Question about Mitsubishi Lancer

Sounds like the fuel guage sending unit or fuel level sender
here's some information I found
under the back seat. there are 2 little handles
one under the left back seat and the other under the right back seat
pull both of these and the seat should be free,
remove the seat from the car.
once this is off pry off the metal plate in the middle (sort of looks like an ashtray)
underneath should be the fuel tank sender. You can use an ohmmeter to test it: when full it should read 2-3 ohms, when nearly empty should read 115-120 ohms.
