As for a filter the choice is yours..Hope this helps Tim
If you want to flush automatic transmission.
1- Remove transmission oil pan (Watch out for oil spill splash) slowly remove oil pan bolts and let the fluid empty. Clean the oil pan.
2- Replace oil pan and gasket if reusable or place a new one.
3- Fill with 4 quarts of automatic transmission (ENGINE OFF)
4- Remove one of the oil transmission tube at the cooler(need adapter)and place rubber hose into an empty 4 quarts recipient.
5-Start the engine (Transmission shifter in Park or neutral)and fill at the same time until the fluid looks clean.
6- Engine off Replace automatic oil cooler tube and adjust oil level to his mark on the dipstick.
P.S. If automatic transmission fluid is brown. That said to me clutch pack material is going down the oil???
Hope it helps.
