I have a 2002 chevy cavalier coupe. digital odometer lighting is out. I have it all apart I see no bulb cluster. There's a bulb behind odometer covering but how can it be removed everything looks soldered on? There's 2 push pin releases on left and right rear and that allows me to tilt cover slightly to see back of bulb but that's as far as I can move it. I removed al gauge needles is that going to be an issue like fuel level when I re install? Thanks so much for your time

Yes its replacable, they just tell you it isnt so you buy the new 200$ guage. There was actually a recall on the cavi's for this problem. You can unsolder the old bulb and solder a new one in

SOURCE: No rear brake light / turn signals on 2001 Chevy Cavalier

The problem is the turn signal/headlight/hazard switch assembly on the steering column which the brake light wiring runs through. The part is easy to change and cost about $50 at most parts stores

SOURCE: remove front dash cover, 2003 cavalier & rep ac control cable

Unfortunately, you can do it, but you will have to remove your entire dash in the process.  It's not really difficult, just time consuming.  You can remove the front dash cover by opening the doors and removing the covers on each side.  They are just clips that hold them on.  Take a flat screwdriver and carefully pry them off. You will then see screws on the side that you will need to unbolt, and I believe there are 2 more screws pointed upwards that you can get to if you open your glovebox.  After those screws are removed, remove the defroster grill in the middle of your dash.  There is just one screw to remove and it unclips.  Now you can pry the entire top part of the dashboard off.  There are more clips holding it on, so just be careful when you do it. After that, you will see a bunch of screws on the top side that you can unbolt and then you will be able to remove the front cover that sits behind your steering wheel. With these pieces out of the way, you can finally unbolt the front cover where your stereo is and get at whatever your trying to get at to fix your defroster/control knob.
I had to go through all this when I installed my aftermarket stereo.
Good Luck!

SOURCE: 2003 cavalier horn problem

It's a pretty long procedure to type out,so go to autozone.com,register and input your vehicle info, then you can access their online repair guide, they have the procedure to disarm the air bag(s),they are under the chassis electrical heading, follow them to a tee so you don't set the air bag off,the cover maybe screwed on thru the back of the steering wheel or may just be held in place with tension clips, the repair guide isn't clear on this so look for srews first,if you don't see any you should be able to pry gently off with a screwdriver, the horn switch will be in the cavity underneath or possibly attached to the back of the air bag itself,it's just a small springed tab with a wire attached that touches the metal of the steering column.I hope this info helps and please be careful to follow the instructions.

SOURCE: spedo works odometer incl. trip quit, makes noise

the odometer is bad, if the speedo works ok.. you will need to send it off and have it replaced. most auto shops/dealers have a place that they send them off to .

SOURCE: The gas gauge on my 2002 chevy venture is not

Hi:
Your tank sending unit is bad. Unfortunately, it is part of the fuel pump assembly, and the part costs around $400, give or take. plus installation labor. It is an all too common problem on GM vehicles, as I have had to change it on my last 2 GMs. If you do an internet search you will find plenty of others in the same boat!

Odometer not working 2002 chevy cavalier, tried speedsensor didnt work, tried different odometer didnt work?????

There are three main causes for a Cavalier's digital odometer not functioning correctly: the fuse has blown, the odometer's wiring connector is loose, or the instrument cluster has gone bad.

The odometer is very dim and you can hardly see it 2002 cavalier with 39000 miles

The dashboard has lights inside to illuminate the gauges. It could either be LED or bulbs. You need to open the dash to get to the gauge. In most cars, the lights can be replaced from the back of teh gauges.

Odometer Light

if it's only the light(s) behind the odo, it's likely just the bulb(s), I'm unsure if it's replaceable, due to the odo being digital/lcd, but hopefully it is
