Try checking the switch located on the pedal it will be a bit of a tight place so if you have a work light and a mirror your in good shape check up at close to the top of the pedal there should be a small switch that should be attached to a part of the firewall it probably has come off there should be a little slide on clip or a screw to attach it . if the switch has come off make sure it works before you put it back on if it is in place and not broken then check your fuse for the brake/tail/turn light not sure if all on same fuse try the fuse first

Check the trunk wire harness right by the left side trunk lid hinge for broken wires. This is a common problem on these cars. If the wires are broken you will have to repair them. The best way is to add short lengths of wires to the breaks and solder them back together. Use electrical tape to recover the harness.

1997 camry toyota rear running lights dont work. bulbs are fine and all other electronics work, why is this and how can i fix it?

look for a tail light relay and fuse--probably in the engine compartment relay box. Try swapping the tail light relay with the horn relay and see if the lights work. If yes, replace the relay. Please let me know if you have more questions.

1997, Camry. On the dash indicator states replace bulb, rear light failure warning light. So I checked ALL lights every one of them is working, back up lights, brake lights, tail lights, blinkers, hazards,...

Also, can be as simple as the bulb itself and the housing it sits in. Some bulbs are practically almost flat ... barely having a lil node or bump protruding out to make connection at the contact point. Also, check down in the housing where the bulb makes contact...... I had to add a lil solder.

Replaced bulbs in camry replace bulb indicator light is still there when turn car on and hit brakes, double checked all lights to make sure they are on.

Check and make sure all the brake light bulbs have the correct bulb in them. Even if they work, if the incorrect bulb is installed it could put the indicator on.

Broken brake light 1997 toyota camry

sounds like a bad bulb. the filament in the bulb will bounce around and reconnect its self sometimes. when it is out tap the lens with your finger tips if it illuminates replace the bulb and recheck. the problem may lay elsewhere, but this is a cheap easy place to start.

Lights

The taillamp bulb and the brake lamp bulb are the same bulb. The brake part of the bulb has its own filament, as does the taillamp side. The brake filament is brighter than the tail-lamp filament.
What you have is "1/2" of the bulb is burned out.
Go out and buy a # 1157 bulb, and replace the right rear bulb. This will fix your issue.
Glad to help, and thanks for choosing FixYa.
