A3 audi, cutting out while driving, airbag light on always and chugging intermittently at high speed

cranks fast or does not crank fast
it must crank to start so cranking is first see?
battery lugs ,rust free and tight? main bat.
no year car told. 1996 to 2012. (a3)
no engine told ,gas/petrol /diesel
engine stalled, (stalls have 50 causes)\
no cranks have 6. causes
not told what failed. (is starter motor silent) cranking/

possibly the EGR valve is blocked.
one way to clear it. by taking it to a high way. drive in lower gear and more speed to clear EGR.
otherwise remove the egr valve and connecting pipe and clean the build up carbon.

Sounds like a MAF(Mass air flow sensor, you can start by pulling it out, it's inside the intake box on this car. You can clean it with a high percentage isopropl alcohal or MAF cleaner, this sounds to be the problem, if it is really bad, you can unplug it temporarily, it will not have as much power but it will run better. If cleaning it doesn't fix it, then you will need to replace it, ensure not to touch the sensor itself at all.

VW engines intend to do this, even if you pull up at a set of traffic lights it will nearly cut out or go into high rev's. i have an a3 & once driving down the road @ about 50kpm, I lost power stearing for 1-2 seconds, stearing wheel went stiff. Audi are a good drive but needs lots of tlc. One other thing is fuel pump could be acting up a bit.

the problem is in the voltage regulator
IT is probably in the ECM which will require an ECM replacement
get it to an accredited auto electrician for a full check of the charge system to eliminate all faults , fires etc

i have no dash lights coming on so carn't stat it, i drive an 2004 sportback a3 tdi
