That sounds like either your valve seals/stems. What color is the smoke? Are you sure its not just steam? Does it disappear after a couple of seconds? Please reply

Smoke from exhaust when start ls400 model1991 lexus color of smoke is gray it ends few second

the smoke is from engine oil, it is caused by leaking valve seals , after the engine is shut down for the day oil is leaking past the valve seals and getting into the cylinders then when you start up the engine the oil is burned off, this is a common problem, and there is a couple of things you can do to help the problem with out taking the engine apart and replacing the seals, try this first at your next oil change add some Restore to the engine oil it will soften the seals and give them a little more life, if this does not cure the problem after a few 100 miles then you will need to have the seals replaced, and this is a costly repair, but you could just live with the smoke it wont hurt any thing just keep an eye on the oil.

I had a new water pump and timing belt put on my 1991 lexus ls400, but i see white smoke coming from the tailpipe and when i put coolant in the reserve tank it leaks out but not on the ground. Can someone...

could be the head gasket gone, if you take it to a garage they can do a test on it which will take about 10 minutes, if you are leaking water but not on the floor there is a good chance its going into the exhaust which will cause steam(white smoke) out the exhaust

Blown Lexus ls400 engine

Smoke is a sign of engine burning oil, which is caused by faulty piston rings, in most cases it's cheaper to have another engine installed in the car, instead of having work done on pistons. Hope this helps and please rate the answer if it was helpful, it helps me, thanks! P.S. Comment if you need more advice, it'll be my pleasure to assist you.

Replace/fix starter on 1991 Lexus LS400

Not too bad. Not much room, just enough to drop the starter. It is probably easier to go up through exhaust if you can get your exhaust shield off the manifold .
