Cant find plugs on a 3.7 6 cylinder 2 wheel drive dakota please help

3.7L Engines
Each individual spark plug is located under each ignition coil. Each individual ignition coil must be removed to gain access to each spark plug. Refer to Ignition Coil Removal/Installation. Prior to removing spark plug, spray compressed air around base of ignition coil at cylinder head. This will help prevent foreign material from entering combustion chamber.

  1. Remove spark plug from cylinder head using a quality socket with a rubber or foam insert.
  2. Inspect spark plug condition.
To install:
  1. Start the spark plug into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross threading.
  2. Before installing coil(s), check condition of coil o-ring and replace as necessary. To aid in coil installation, apply silicone to coil o-ring.
  3. Tighten spark plugs to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) torque.
  4. Install ignition coil(s). Refer to Ignition Coil Removal/Installation.

I need help changing spark plugs in my 2004 ford Taurus It seems I have to remove the intak assembly to access the rear plugs. what do I do to remove the intake safely and properly replace everything?

Hello,

You will have to remove the intake assembly to be able to remove the spark plug. You can also go about it from the ignition coil. To replace the spark plug, please follow the steps below to do so. You will be needing these instruments: Phillips screwdriver, Socket wrench, Spark plug socket, Anti-seize compound, Dielectric compound, Small screwdriver, then follow the steps:
  1. Disconnect the car's negative battery cable at a time when the engine is cool.
  2. Unscrew the individual ignition coil using a screwdriver and then remove the coil and set it aside.
  3. Pull out the spark plug wire at the plug end, grasping it by the boot and twisting it out; a special tool for this is available. Disconnect the same wire at the ignition coil.
  4. Clean out the spark plug's hole, using compressed air to blow out all dust, dirt and debris from inside.
  5. Remove the spark plug from the engine using a socket wrench with a spark plug socket; turn the plug counterclockwise to remove it.
  6. Apply a thin coat of anti-seize compound to the threads of the replacement spark plug. Make sure you get no compound on the plug's electrodes.
  7. Thread the spark plug into its hole, making sure you don't cross-thread it, and then tighten it with the wrench and spark plug socket.
  8. Coat the insides of the spark plug boots with dielectric compound; use a small screwdriver to apply the compound.
  9. Install the ignition coil and screw it into place.
  10. Repeat the above steps for each spark plug/wire that needs changing and installation.
  11. Reconnect the negative battery cable once you've installed all necessary plus and wires
Hope this helped. Thank You for using FixYa!!!

I need instructions for replacement of 1995 lexus sc400 spark plug wires.

http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/ignition/sparkplugs.html

This should help, I did mine yesterday, it is a piece of cake... just make sure you have a good spark plug socket that fits VERY snugly on the extension, and make sure you have a LONG extension for the socket... I have a 10 inch one, and I wish I used one that was longer for the back plugs on each side... Oh, and be careful to not crack the plugs in there by over tightening them... I know that it says its for an LS400 but they both have 1UZ-FE engines so its the same thing...

And make sure to spend the extra money for the Good Plugs and Wires... I got NKG's for my '93 SC400... well worth it...
