When I removed ignition coil above the spark plug, I found that some part prevents me to use a socket. Somebody told me that this is v v t i engine. Is any idea of how to remove that part?
when a Mechanic wants to extract the spark plug he face the problem.
he can not get out the coel because it's Melted away
menwhile that i asked him why !!!! he told me in some time Previously the engin was hot then you try to wash it so that it Melted away.
then i had to replace the existing one with new.

3.7L Engines Each individual spark plug is located under each ignition coil. Each individual ignition coil must be removed to gain access to each spark plug. Refer to Ignition Coil Removal/Installation. Prior to removing spark plug, spray compressed air around base of ignition coil at cylinder head. This will help prevent foreign material from entering combustion chamber.
Remove spark plug from cylinder head using a quality socket with a rubber or foam insert.
Inspect spark plug condition.
To install:
Start the spark plug into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross threading.
Before installing coil(s), check condition of coil o-ring and replace as necessary. To aid in coil installation, apply silicone to coil o-ring.
Tighten spark plugs to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) torque.
Install ignition coil(s). Refer to Ignition Coil Removal/Installation.
Remove necessary air filter tubing at throttle body.
Prior to removing ignition coil, spray compressed air around coil base at cylinder head.
Prior to removing spark plug, spray compressed air into
cylinder head opening. This will help prevent foreign material from
entering combustion chamber.
Remove spark plug from cylinder head using a quality socket
with a rubber or foam insert. Also check condition of ignition coil
O-ring and replace as necessary.
- Remove 4 (with 6mm socket) and cylinder head plastic cover.
- Disconnect Igniters connectors.
- Remove the bolts and ignition coils.
- Remove the spark plugs with 16 mm spark plug socket.
- Inspect the electrodes of all spark plugs. If the electrodes are found to be round or corroded at their tips, replace all together.
- Adjust the spark plug gap to 0.9 -1.1 mm.
You will have to remove the intake assembly to be able to remove the spark plug. You can also go about it from the ignition coil. To replace the spark plug, please follow the steps below to do so. You will be needing these instruments: Phillips screwdriver, Socket wrench, Spark plug socket, Anti-seize compound, Dielectric compound, Small screwdriver, then follow the steps:
Disconnect the car's negative battery cable at a time when the engine is cool.
Unscrew the individual ignition coil using a screwdriver and then remove the coil and set it aside.
Pull out the spark plug wire at the plug end, grasping it by the boot and twisting it out; a special tool for this is available. Disconnect the same wire at the ignition coil.
Clean out the spark plug's hole, using compressed air to blow out all dust, dirt and debris from inside.
Remove the spark plug from the engine using a socket wrench with a spark plug socket; turn the plug counterclockwise to remove it.
Apply a thin coat of anti-seize compound to the threads of the replacement spark plug. Make sure you get no compound on the plug's electrodes.
Thread the spark plug into its hole, making sure you don't cross-thread it, and then tighten it with the wrench and spark plug socket.
Coat the insides of the spark plug boots with dielectric compound; use a small screwdriver to apply the compound.
Install the ignition coil and screw it into place.
Repeat the above steps for each spark plug/wire that needs changing and installation.
Reconnect the negative battery cable once you've installed all necessary plus and wires
YOU REMOVE THE CYLINDER HEAD COVER.YOU REMOVE SPARK PLUGS FROM TOP OF THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD.FIRST YOU REMOVE THE IGNITION COILS AND HIGH TENSION LEADS THEN REMOVE SPARK PLUGS.YOU NEED SPARK PLUGS SOCKET THE LONGER SOCKET WILL BE GOOD YOU NEED LONGER EXTENSION, YOU NEED SPARK PLUGS GAP GAUGE AND A 3/8 RATCHET WRENCH. YOU NEED A TORQUE WRENCH ITS NOT MANDATORT BUT JUST DONT OVER TIGHTEN SPARK PLUGS OR YOU WILL DAMAGE THE ALUMINUM HEAD THREADS.
Not exactly sure what you need? Standard Rules: Use a Spark Plug Socket to remove and install Spark Plugs. Replace (remove) one Wire at a time from one Spark Plug. Replace One Spark Plug at a time. Use Anti-Seize Grease applied moderately to the threads on the new Spark Plug. Using a Socket (with a extension) START all installations using your hands. This prevents cross-threading and stripping of the threads inside the Heads. Standard Torque 15-20 ft-lbs. Replace the One Wire connection to that One Spark Plug. Replace that One Wire connection to the Ignition Coil. Go onto the next Spark Plug using the above Rules. Repeat.
For the 3.4L V6: Firing Order: 1-2-3-4-5-6 Cylinders:
......(back) 1.......3.......5 2.......4.......6
......(front) Ignition Coil Connections:
............(back)
.|.5..2.|..|.3..6.|..|.4..1.|
............(front)
On the 3.5L the Electronic Coil Packs are located over the Cylinders/Spark Plugs. These Coil Packs have seven (7) bolts on a Black Cover. Remove these seven (7) bolts, removing the Cover. Access to the three (3) Front Spark Plugs is now gained. The Rear three (3) Spark Plugs is the same, however it is in a tight spot near the Fire Wall.
Standard Rules: Some things are not Applicable for your specific engine. Use a Spark Plug Socket to remove and install Spark Plugs. Replace (remove) one Wire Connections at a time from one Spark Plug. Replace One Spark Plug at a time. Use Anti-Seize Grease applied moderately to the threads on the new Spark Plug. Using a Socket (with a extension) START all installations of all Sprak Plugs using your hands. This prevents cross-threading and stripping of the threads inside the Heads. Standard Torque 15-20 ft-lbs. Replace the One Wire Connection to that One Spark Plug. Replace that One Wire Connection to the Ignition Coil Connection. Go onto the next Spark Plug using the above Rules. Repeat.
For the 3.5L Firing Order: 1-2-3-4-5-6 Cylinders: .....(back) 1......3.......5 2......4.......6 ....(front)

This should help, I did mine yesterday, it is a piece of cake... just make sure you have a good spark plug socket that fits VERY snugly on the extension, and make sure you have a LONG extension for the socket... I have a 10 inch one, and I wish I used one that was longer for the back plugs on each side... Oh, and be careful to not crack the plugs in there by over tightening them... I know that it says its for an LS400 but they both have 1UZ-FE engines so its the same thing...
And make sure to spend the extra money for the Good Plugs and Wires... I got NKG's for my '93 SC400... well worth it...
