Your Slave Cylinder is bad, it is not holding pressure causing your clutch pedal to not work, it located on the driver's side of the firewall in the engine compartment.

Need a clutch pedal diagram for a 1999 s10 2.2 4cyl manual trans

Sorry no diagram. But here is how it works. In the start position(Power) the wire goes to the start fuse, from the fuse it goes to the clutch pedal switch. Push the pedal and it goes to the starter relay. On the other end is ground. If it is good it pulls the relay closed. On the closed end is battery power to the starter.

Your losing fluid somewhere, it is a hydraulic clutch so this means hydraulic fluid powers it. Bring to transmission shop for repair.

does your car have a hydraulic clutch
just had similar problem on my Jeep had to replace the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder.
you can bleed some clutch master cylinders removing air in system check fluid level full then bleed master cylinder keeping an eye on fluid levels not to run system dry..

good luck hope this helps (PTL)

My clutch is broken there is no traction at all and it is stuck to the floor. I can raise the clutch with my foot but cannot change gear when the car is running. Its an 01 VW Golf, is there a cable in this...

The Golf has a hydraulic type clutch, it works off a master cylinder and uses a slave cylinder to engage and disengage. It has a hydraulic line, hose and tubing. Have you checked the fluid level in the master cylinder? Are there any leaks under your car? Often the seals go out on the slave cylinder and the fluid bypasses not allowing any pressure to build, resulting in a soft pedal that goes to the floor. Fill the master cylinder with approved fluid and "pump" the pedal by hand, you should start feeling some pressure build. Then check for leaks. if that is not the problem, you will need to troubleshoot the clutch for pressure plate problems or possible faulty master cylinder. Good luck, i hope this helps.

The clutch petal goes to the floor with no pressure to it and the truck will not move

If you have a hydraulic clutch then you may be out of fluid - typically uses brake fluid. Follow the clutch cable where it comes out of the firewall - if it goes to a unit with a cap then check the fluid level inside. If it goes straight to the tranny then check the arm it goes to to see if it is loose. Possibly you can adjust the cable out to make it move that arm ( throw out bearing fork). If this doesn't work then you'll need to replace the clutch by removing the transmission - a good job for a mechanic as this is pretty involved in doing so.

Check fluid level of hydraulic clutch that would cause this condition if low in fluid or not bled of air.

Clutch goes all the way to the floor without resitance on my daughters 2004 sunfire. there is fluid on the ground and when I checked fluid level it appeared to be empty

Examine carefully to locate exact point of leak. Could be the hydraulic line, a connection between line & slave cylinder or master cylinder, or a bad slave cylinder. Once you identify the point of leak, I can help you with repair info if needed.

Clutch adjustment

Its either the clutch fluid is wrong or not at the correct levels or it has not been bled correctly.

The clutch pedal goes to floor and wont return

Your car uses what is called a hydraulic clutch, the master or the slave hydraulic cylinder is leaking fluid and you have no pressure in the system, this causes the clutch to go to the floor.
