2002 cavalier. Intermittently won't start. It'll be fine for a week or 2, then suddenly it won't start. When it does start it fires right up. It's got a brand new battery and alternator. Tried starting fluid today and it fired up then died, wouldn't stay going. Verified it's getting spark. I'm thinking fuel pump, what do you think? Thanks

Could be fuel pump or the fuel pump relay and only checking the supply to the pump during a no start episode is likely to provide a valuable clue.

Don't ignore the possibility of an immobiliser fault...

Try looking at the fuel filter, it might be partly clogged or just clogged.Locate the fuel filter, disconnect it and (I know this sounds strange) blow through it, if you get resistance of any kind, then it's bad, if it blows completely through with NO resistance at all, then it's good.

SOURCE: my cavalier won't start

Okay there should be a plug on there make sure it is pluged in all the way. If you have someone to help you pull one of the spark plugs out plug it in to the wire (Do Not Hold Wire with Bear Hands) use insulated pliers.try to start car if you don't see a spark from plug then it means that the coil pack is bad. If it does spark then it is possible thet it may be a fuel problem.

SOURCE: 2000 Chevy Blazer Cranks but wont start...

What about the fuel filter????? Have you changed it out??? If you can spary something like a started fluid, that means it is a fuel problem. My last check, it has to be above 50-psi on the fuel pressure to make it run right. I had 35psi, but whould not get over 30mph or down hill maybe 45mph. Check both filter & pressure, but check pressure with a New fule filter!!!!

SOURCE: Hello. My 1997 Chevy Tahoe

Now you have a good battery & a starter that turns over the motor

Have you cycled the key on & off with a fuel pressure gauge on the
fuel rail?

Do you have a fuel filter that isn't over 3 or 4 years old?

Have you checked for spark while cranking ? Use an old plug on the wires,
if you have ignition wires, don't ground the wire without resistance

If you removed the ducting & MAF Sensor it won't start

Tell us what you checked & exactly how that was done.

I can not find where the oil dip stick is located on my 2002 cavalier 4 cyl

I\'ll give you the benefit of the doubt and that you\'ve not had the car long, or depended on others to provide basic maintenance. First, go to local auto parts store (where you\'ll be buying any oil, oil filters etc) and get the Chilton repair manual for this car. You don\'t need a college degree to understand the instructions and pictures.

My car began not starting right away and then finally would, now won't start at all. Died a couple of times while driving

Could be the cranking amps in the battery are under par. Needing new battery. Or the alternater is not working properly.

The car is a 1996 2.3 Litre. The motor was running fine then suddenly popped once and now won't run over 35 mph. Checked compression. All cyliders at 150 psi. Checked for spark by hooking spark plug to...

Well this motor has 2 coils so i don't think both went at the same time unless the ignition control module is bad because this is what tells which coil to fire and when.So i would have ignition control module tested. Its either that or the cam position sensor and sense you did'nt get any trouble codes in the computer about the cam sensor i would like it would be the ignition control module. You can get these from www.rockauto.com for about $100.00
