DTC shows up on computer at auto zone as a bad code and i dont know what DTC means so i cant fix it if i dont know what it means so my question to you is what in the world does DTC mean ? Im working on a 1997 chevy 3500HD with a vortec 454 4 wheel drive 4 door

Dont clean your throttle body yet..........Theres an idle air control valve{ black round top about the size of a 50cent piece} on the back of the throttle body, cleaners will ruin it. It mounts with 2 screws facing the back of the motor. This is what controls your idle.........

p-0129 obd2 code means barometric pressure is out of range p-0339 says crankshaft position (ckp) sensor is intermittent.. go to auto zone .com and type in your vechile info and then look for a ckp sensor buy and replace.your pressure is off because of a bad sensor. disconect the neg on your battery, add new sensor, replace neg terminal back on battery.. then erase the two codes with a obd 2 code reader after installing new sensor. if you dont have a code reader pick one up at auto zone as well. its the best tool u can have.. no one will rip you off at the shop when you walk in their knowing what the problem is.. and you cant put a price on knowlage.. oh wait you can $ 49.99

Means your computer pick up a bad signal from one of your engine sensor, most of the time engine will still run good, but need to have it check out, could damage other sensor's, autozone can do a free code reading, but don't buy anything till you have it checked at a repair shop, or get back with us with the trouble code so we can help you.

It means you need to have your car scanned for A DTC code to service your engine soon. Auto Zone can scan your car free of charge for the DTC codes and can give you the instructions to what needs to be addressed that your car has issues with.
It cold be as simple as a bad gas cap or a bad O2 sensor, without the DTC codes we will not know what issues your car has that needs to be addressed.

If the check engine light is on. It means that there was a problem detected by your car's computer. If your car is still running with the light on, it may not be a serious issue. Try first disconnecting the battery for 2 minutes. If that does not remove the light you will have to have a scanner to get the exact error code to diagnose the problem accurately.

You can take it to Auto Zone and have them scan the car for the DTC codes and they can advise you on how to address the issue. The ECM has detected a problem in your Silverado. You going to have to get the truck scanned to retrieve the DTC codes. It could be simple as to a bad gas cap to a bad transmission solenoid. Auto zone can scan your truck free of charge, if not most auto shop will only charge $15.00 to $25.00 since they know most large Auto parts store scan for free.
