I have a 2000 jeep grand cherokee 4.0 and it just broke 100,000 miles. I have a ticking noise that comes the engine and sounds like it is on the passenger. The noise typically doesnt start until after 20-30 minutes of driving over approximately 45 mph. The noise stops when you press on the accelerator. And will also tends to stop once the car is going under 30 mph. Any ideas or suggestion what the issue might be?

What kind of sound? If it's a ticking sound from inside the valve cover it could be a bad rocker arm, worn lifter or lifter & cam lobe or broken valve spring (needs to be looked at). If the noise is deep and best heard at the oil pan. it could be a rod bearing or main beginning to go but generally, that lowers oil pressure. Another item that sounds nearly the same is a cracked flywheel. Careful listening can often unravel this or have a very experienced tech look at it....(still your choice on who does the repair).
Sounds like a transmission problem not and engine problem, the rev'ing to move that you mentioned. Check your fluid level, if that is good you are going to have to take it to a shop.
Is it when the engine first starts? It sounds like to me that the starter is getting stuck in the fly wheel. what happens is when you go to start it, the solenoid push's the gear out and spins the gear almost one full action, the grinding noise could be the starter staying engaged after the motor has starter but quickly comes out of it after driving out of it. just a thought.
The ticking noise is most likely your tranfer case chain. the chains in this case...overtime....will stretch, causing the chain to have enough slack the hit the bottom of the case.
so it goes away after a bit, that could be cause theres no oil on the top part of your engine, thats normal. wait till it gets older, it will be louder.
