1990 daihatsu charade. Drives great but randomly stalls and fails to start again for half hour or so. Auto electrician replaced the ignition module but the problem still occurs

I inherited a 1990 Charade when Dad died in 2001.
Did you try a simple tune-up? Plugs, Distributor Cap, Plug Wires, Rotor Bug..?
Worse case scenario Timing Belt slipped a notch..
The popping/stalling suggests you guys got your valve timing wrong when re-fitting timing belt. Remove your cover and double-check your timing marks on cam gear and crankshaft gear. Align you timing marks.
SOUND LIKE IDLE SPEED TOO LOW.AND IGNITION TIMING OFF FUEL PUMP FAULTY.CHECK FUEL PUMP FUSE AND RELAY.ALSO BAD FUEL INJECTOR.HAVE CAR SCANNED LOOK FOR FAULT CODES.THIS SAVES YOU TIME AND MONEY.
I have had the same problem, replaced everything. Have not solved it. Sometimes car stops completely whilst driving. Your problrm will only happen when air con is on. There is a small electronic box under glove box. Turn small dial to the low postition or high, whichever fixes it and also bring your revs up with the idle screw on throttle body. I still have not solved my engine cut out problem, must be a faulty relay. I have replaced the computer and distributor but still have the problem
Ignition timing should be checked and adjusted whenever spark plugs are replaced or any distributormaintenance is performed. Ignition timing at 1000 RPM or less should be as follows: on 1989 1.3L/4-79 engines, 3-7°BTDC; on 1990-92 1.3L/4-79 engines, 0-2°; on 1.6L/4-97 engines, 1-5°.
If its the 3 cylinder I would say your points need changing/adjusting. Make sure you have grease on the lobes where the rubbing block makes contact or the rubbing block will wear rapidly and cause the gap to close. The gap between the flat and the rubbing block should be about the thickness of an hacksaw blade. The points thesleves should not have any spikey protrusions (caused by arcing).
The small metal box with vacuum hoses attached is the hot idle compensator. It's not electrical and the soot is probably just some oil that has powdered form coming in contact with petrol fumes.
my 1990 charade had same problem,tried every thing ended up just turn key off and on farly fast.by that i mean just so the dash lights go on and off.dont ingadge starter,then it should start striataway... from bushmacanic'
