1996 Toyota Paseo Logo

1996 toyota paseo is leaking brake fluid and the front brakes are really soft to non existant. Brake light was constantly on so I checked the brake fluid level and filled it. Next morning the brake fluid was empty and the braking system was not working. Tried to find the problem but was not able to locate the leak. Any suggestions or has anyone experienced this problem before?

This job need 2 persons. You must take of all 4 wheels . Must see a cooper pipe on each wheels witch goes inside to a pads brake system. Here somewhere must be a screw for to take of the air from installation, unscrewed. One persons must push the brake pedal every one second up to coming out the brake liquid. When the liquid is go out without air, stop push and strongly tie the screw back. Do this for all 4 wheels.Do not forget to fill up the break liquid tank. After that if is still lose the liquid, fix something white, paper or something like that, under the car on a flat place and leave for a wail to see where the liquid goes. Possible to have a pipe broken. But my idea is to go to an authorized service. You can't play with breaks.

1990 Toyota 4runner 2.8l Diesel. Looses all power uphill and has brakes siezed on (i think).. not handbrake, only foot brake. Wont go over 40km/hr when this happens. It is spontaneous and not constant....

From what you describe I would say that there is no fluid in the reservoir and the brake light on is from the fact that the fluid level is too low. That would account for the loose brake feeling. I would check the fluid level and if it is low or non existent then you have 2 options . Go back to the mechanic? and give him a serve as the job was not done properly and go to an accredited brake shop and have the brakes fixed properly. They may also be able to explain the brakes coming on --- possibly a failing booster

1996 Dodge Dakota - Brake pedal became very soft . checked brake fluid ,it was seriously low ,added fluid ,now brake light & abs light stay on and the brake pedal is extremley soft.

You have a leaky brake line somewhere. You will need to find and repair it. If you don't see any lines that are wet, you may have to pull the rear brake drums to check the wheel cylinders. They can also start to leak but are not as likely as a line. If your truck is a standard it's possible that your hydraulic clutch uses the brake master cylinder as a resevoir so check that line as well. A soft pedal would suggest that isn't the problem but if the fluid was low enough air could get into the lines. Hope this helps.

BRAKE LIGHT ON , BKAKES SOFT FADE. i THOUGHT REPLACING PADS AND ROTERS, BLEED ENTIRE SYSTEM. PROBLEM STILL EXIST. I'AM THINKING BOOSTER WHAT DO YOU THINK.

Brake pads, rotors, and boosters do not cause brakes to fade. They also do not cause the light to come on. Hydraulic leaks cause brakes to fade and also the light to come on. Check all of your brake lines and fittings for leaks. Check also the calipers and/or wheel cyliders for leakage. If you cannot find any external leaks and you are not losing any brake fluid, then the problem is caused by an internal leak in the master cylinder or (if you vehice is equipped with antilock brakes) the antilock control module

The abs light and brake light on my 1996 ram came on today. My brakes went soft and to the floor. I was barely able to stop. What is the problem

More then likely its a rear brake fluid leak. Check master cylinder resevoir. There are two compartments one for the front and one for the back brakes,if it is low there is a leak.

BRAKE LIGHT ON DASHBOARD ALWAYS ON, ALL BULBS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY..BRAKE LIGHTS, STOP LIGHTS, DIRECTIONAL LIGHTS ETC

Check your brake fluid level in the reservoir; some Toyotas have wheel cylinder sensors; some Toyotas have master cylinder sensors; you also have a sensor on the parking brake and on the brake pedal inside the cab. Check all that.

The abs and brake lights on the dash are on. what does this mean?

Hi:
Your lights mean that your ABS system or anti lock brakes are not working. The brake light means that there is a problem in your brake system as well. Some quick checks to to to ensure your vehicle is safe to temporarily drive : Open the hood and check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. If it is low, check the inside of all four tires to look for brake fluid leaking out of any of the brake calipers. If you identify the problem area, and you have any softness in your brake pedal, do not drive the vehicle until fixed

95 paseo brake lights flickering and staying on

Look at your brake light switch attached to the upper end of your brake pedal. When the brakes are released your switch should be engaged. I would remove it and check it with a meter to make sure its working normally.
