I am trying to find the engine serial number on my Jep Grand Cherokee. I have been told that it is on the left front corner of the engine below the cylinder head. Is it visible with the hood open, or do you have to get under the car. I have the VIN Number, is there any way of obtaining the engine number using the VIN

Cant find engine number on 2001 v8 jeep grand cherokee

On V-8 engines, the serial number is stamped on a machined pad on the left front corner of the cylinder block.

On the six cylinder engine, build date information can be found stamped on a machined pad located on the right side of the cylinder block between the No. 2 and 3 cylinders.

Facing the front of the engine, the engine serial number is located on the side of the engine block on your right. (The engine's left front side.)

Also, here can find all sections about the Jeep WJ Service and Repair Manual.

Hope helped with this (remember rated this help) Good luck.

Fan resistor

I had the same issue on my 1999 Grand Cherokee. I replaced the fan motor which was only 68.00 from Auto Zone and the fan relay sensor which is located behind the front left side of the bumper, which was about 30.00 from Autozone. I would suggest testing the motor with the 12V (fused). You can test it with your car battery, if it works, then i would suggest replacing your fan motor sensor, behind the front left side of the bumper.
