Infiniti I35 2004 with all options and 80,000 miles. The driver's electric seat is jammed at the back position and tries to go forward whenever the car starts and all it can do is make a grinding sound and slightly twist towards to the left. I used a mirror and flashlight and could see nothing under the seat that could be jamming anything. Is it most likely the gears is stripped? What would it cost to repair in Las Vegas? It is possible to repair by a non-expert owner?

Sounds like the motor is bad easiest and cheapest way to fix would be to get a complete seat from the Junk yard the seat should come with all the motors and tracks all you have to do is unbolt old seat and bolt down new one only draw back to this is seat might not be same color but there two ways to fix that first u could just get a set of seat covers Or you can take the track and motor off new seat and install them on the old seat

Power seat Ford Escape 2003 drivers seat will not move forward or back

If it isn't making noise, check the electrical connection. If its getting power it could be that the motor needs to be replaced. If it just hums when you try to operate it, the motor is either jammed or needs to be replaced.

Electric seat won't go forward or back. Sounds like it's trying

Most Ford products are designed so the seat belt latch by the center console moves with the seat. The bottom of the latch rides on the seat rail, and with time sometimes it builds up a little play on the rail. As the seat moves forward or back, the seat belt guide often tilts forward or back, just a bit, on the rail, and gets stuck. So you can move forward or back just a bit, but then it jams and you can hear the motor, but can go no further.

The long term fix is to remove the seat, disassemble the seat belt guide and rail, and usually replace some parts.

But the short term solution is often to simply hold on to the seat belt latch and rock it forward and away from the seat as you try to go forward or back. Or, sometimes it works best to rock it backwards and away from the seat as you try to move forward or back. It all depends on which way it is binding.

There's no guarantee that it won't jam again if you move it all the way back or forward, but once you find the right position to hold the seat latch in while moving the seat, you should be able to re-adjust it where you need it to be.

The front passenger seat is jammeed. Whenever I push the button to move the seat back and forth, it only goes a short way and stops. Currently the seat is jammed forward and I cannot get it to slide back...

Check to be sure something isn't jammed under the seat to prevent it from moving past the point. Also check your electrical connections to be sure they are plugged in tight. Your seat may move to a point and unplug (but remain plugged in). Next there are control circuit boards under the seats that can go bad and cause intermittent problems.
I had to replace one recently on a 2002 Envoy.

Electric front seat stuck in forward position. It's a 2002 Camry. I moved the electric adjustment completely forward looking for an item and it would not return back to the original position. Both tilts...

I had the same problem on my 2003 Toyota Camry. The threaded drive screws are what spin underneath the seat and cause the seat to move back and forth (same way a garage door opens or closes). When the seat gets all the way in the forward position, the threading on the drive screws ends, which causes the bolts connected to the seat to jam and get stuck. It should sound like the motor is trying to turn but it won't, it just clicks. Un-jam the bolts and rotate them one rotation from the all the way forward position to ensure your seat is reinstalled straight.

Driver's seat unable to move forward or backward

There are plastic gears connecting the track to the seat assembly. Whne one of these strip the seat will only work or move to one side. Infiniti does not sell a simple fix. You are looking at buying an entire seat assembly complete with the module for all the electronics. It will be at a cost of around $950 - $1000. Once that is in, Infiniti must program the seat to the brain of the car, only then can you reset your memory settings.

The drivers seat is stuck. It won't move forward or backward but all other seat functions work fine. hi and please help..I have the same problem with the driver seat..it will go up and down and the back...

I'm assuming this is a power seat. If so, there are separate motors that control the various functions of the seat such as forward/backard, recline, lumbar support, etc. It could be that the motor or an electrical connection to the motor for the forward/backward motion is faulty. Normally all of the motors would be on the same power circuit, so if some of the functions are working then it is probably not a blown fuse.

Just one other personal observation, I have actually seen an instance where some loose pocket change had spilled under the seat and a quarter had become wedged in the track that the seat slides in and had jammed the tracks so tightly that the seat would not move.

One thing to note is whether or not you hear anything when you try to move the seat forward/backward. If you hear a click or a buzz when you press the button then that could mean that something is physically jamming the seat tracks. If you don't hear anything when you press the button, then that more than likely means a problem with the motor or the electrical connection to the motor.
