1991 Pontaic Trans Sport , 3.1 engine - Won't Start when hot. Description of problem: When first starting when cold,starts fine,runs fine but after driving for a few miles or hundred miles after heating up when van is shut off will not start,cranks over and over.After waiting about 15 to 30 minutes van starts up as there was nothing wrong. PLEASE HELP !

sometimes when the starter gets hot it won't allow the Bendix to engage properly.

remove and clean IAC ( idle air control ), this is what controls idling on to days cars. if this does not help a lot, check or replace coolant tempurature sensor. it may be bad, if it is, it will think the engine is always warm and send wrong info to pcm. good-day ! and may god bless. you can also have a vaccumn leak ! if check engine light is on, get it scanned to know what area is causing the problem.

Make sure you don't have an OVERHEATING problem. Engine damage is sure to occur if it's running too hot. don-ohio

make sure batt post are clean and tite and inspect wiring-something may be gitten hot--older vehicles components age

If it only warms up to operating temperature and dies check the EGR Valve. It should be open within 10 minutes or so. If not the engine will die out although it will start after the engine cools down again

Check ECM control unit???
