When I start my car up in the morning it shakes really bad for a couple of minutes than it is fine. I turn it off and back on & it is fine. The shaking happens every morning after the car is sitting over night! The check engine light came on and the code is PO302, what does this code mean & how can I get this fixed?

P0302 is a misfire in cylinder #2. When was the last time you changed spark plugs? That's the most common cause of a misfire.

SOURCE: Car losing power and turning off

if your car is 2003+ try turning the key to run (but not crank) then to acc. 3 times and the engine codes will show up on the odometer, then you can look up what those codes are to help diagnose some of the problems.

Wont start

check the distributor & rotor arm & clean with fine grade sandpaper if required,
try this: check the fuel pump it should make a whirring sound when try to start the car, put the key in the ignition & turn it a couple of clicks but do not turn the car over, if you hear the whirring sound the fuel pump is working if not then change the relay for the fuel pump & try again, if you now hear the fuel pump working then turn the ignition off then on a couple of clicks then off again, do this two or three times then try & start the car, failing this it could be a problem with the coils, the spark plugs, the leads, or it could be bad compression in your cylinders. try all of the above before considering faulty cylinders/piston rings as this is very unlikely on a 7 year lod vehicle unless it has been thrashed & treated to a very hard life. please rate my answer, Paul.

Did they read the code at advanced auto? If so what is the code(s) they gave you? I wouldn't go buy new stuff until you have an idea of why you have a check engine light.

2006 BMW 523i shaking in the mornings

Strange, it sounds like you've got a dead spark plug, but that would be continuous, not only in the morning, the other explanation could be that the engine management is injecting too much fuel, flooding the cylinder, and wetting the spark plug, which would explain why you need to wait 5 mins for the fuel to evaporate. Try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes to reset the EMS, if that doesn't help, get to a workshop and let them check the EMS with a computer, the electric choke may be sending the wrong signals to the EMS. Hope this helps!

1991 Buick Regal will not start

Chech to see if you're gettin a signal from the crankshaft position sensor located behind the crank pulley. If no signal, you have either a bad sensor or a bad crank pulley. There is a reluctor ring on the pulley that separates and goes bad. If you have a good square wave signal from the the crank sensor it's probably going to be the computer. I've replaced a lot of them. They do really wierd things when they start to go. Check all of your grounds first. Also, while the car is running, shake and pull on the wiring harnesses for the computer. I've seen on a few cars where a wire or 2 will go bad and cause and occational short.
