Hi, any time a fuse BLOWS REPEATEDLY on replacement, a severe SHORT CIRCUIT in the circuit served by that fuse IS THE CAUSE.
There could many causes of THE short circuit. A couple of the more common causes are:
1. A "hot" wire in the circuit has had the insulation cut or chaffed through, allowing the bare metal conductor [wire] to come into contact with a grounded metal part of the body sheet metal.
2. A device [switch, connector, a lamp [bulb] socket], motor or similar, in the circuit has developed an INTERNAL short, usually due to overheating and/or corrosion.

Number one usually happens when a hot wire is pinched or crushed between two sheet metal panels, or the wire [conductor] makes a very sharp turn or bend around a sharp grounded metal edge, and tension and/or vibration eventually chaffes through the insulation, allowing the hot conductor to contact the grounded sheet metal or brace which damaged the insulation..

You have to properly trace all the wiring connection related to the lighter so as to pin point the exact location of the problem....

Replaced cig/lighter fuse and the 3 outlets still dont work in my 06 chevy impala. Any suggestions?

Special fuse/s for the heavy amperage connections. Google images for what you are looking for. It is in the engine compartment and difficult to find. almost never identified.

The cigarette lighter (3) plugs for my 2000 chevy silverado dont work

The info should be in your owners manual.
There should be a 15 or 20amp fuse in the box near the battery for the cig lighter. There may also be one for "power outlet" or accessory outlet.

On my 2006 dodge stratus my cig lighter won't work

Normally this would be in your owners manual.
The power for the outlets may be on the same circuit with the horn.
On some models there is an accessory relay that handles the outlets.
There should be a 20amp fuse in the box in the engine compartment that feeds the circuit. You may have to check all of the 20amp fuses to find it.

I have a 2000 chevy silverado 1500 and the 3 plug-ins dont work i need to know what fuse exactly i need 2 look at to see if its blown.

Its generally labelled the cig fuse in the drivers door pillar fuse panel. Some models have 2 fuses the other marked aux for the optional power outlets. It should be in the same panel. Later models are under the hood fuse panel (still marked cig).

Both cigarette lighters just went out will not work, what happen? How can it be fixed? Its on a chevy malibu ls 2007.

you can find the fuse for the cig lighter in the trunk, on the passenger side. it should be a 20 amp fuse. you can get all the info from the owner's manual. if you dont have it then check out p. 453 and 454.. number 20 is the cig lighter fuse. check it out in the trunk and see if it is burned or not. if not then just check out the compartment next to the gas pedal.. open it and see if any wires are cut.. also check out the wires going in the cig lighter. if you want, just push it out hard and move it sideways at the same time.... if any of these steps don't work then go ask your dealer.... hope this help dude....

Just bought a 1997 chevy silverado 1500. 350 vortec. keeps blowing fuses for my cig lighter/power locks. the truck came with a viper alarm system. as soon as i attempt to put fuse in it blows. where can i...

First thing I can think of off hand is to take an ohm meter and probe the center contact of the cig lighter, make sure your probing the center and not the side. If it shows connection to the ground then a wire has been cut and touches the ground. So either look in the dash behind the cig lighter or in the driver door.

The cig lighter and the aux outlets are on a seperate circuit. The aux is a yellow fuse in the engine compartment fuse box.
