Some cars will not let you start it unless you get your f o b programmed by a locksmith but your normal key is usually just to get into the door manually

I would try to disconnect the battery to the vehicle and leave it off for about 2 to 5 minutes then connect again and try your car

The Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) is not going to let you run your engine without the proper key. The best thing to do is to take the entire vehicle (Tow it) to the dealer and have them program a new key for you. With a plain key, the engine will start and run for about 2 seconds then shut down. If this is repeated more than 6 times, the computer will have to be reset before even the correct key can be used. (More money)

Dealers can be quite expensive what I did with my mother's car is ordered the key on eBay brand new fob and had a locksmith come to our residence and program it it was about half the price of a dealership but you will have to shop locksmith they all have different prices

2000 Plymouth Voyager OBD II light came on and stays on. What could be the cause?

From http://www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html :

  • On most cars, the codes will read out if the engine light is on - all you have to do is put the key into the RUN position.
  • Normally, to get codes, you put the key on OFF and then rapidly do OFF-ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON (on some cars you have to do four or five, not three, OFF-ON cycles). On our test 2002 car, the key did not go back to unlock, so it was ACC-ON-ACC-ON-ACC-ON.

  • The codes are usually the same for Chryslers.

You either have a bad relay, bad temp sensor, or bad PCM. I would start with the relay as these give the most problems.
