Hello: They are not always in the tank. At the left rear wheel, mounted above the inner frame, you can see it when the rear right wheel is removed and the car is jacked up. It may be easier to see it if you follow from the fuel filter which would be on the frame and just about under where your feet would be if you were sitting behind the driver.

If the doors will open from the outside, but do not open from the inside - the child safety switches are probably activated. Open the rear doors (from the outside) and slide the small levers next to the doors locks (on the edge of the doors) upwards.
