The shaft has excessive clearance inside the distributor. Replace the distributor with a known good one or pick up a new one.

I wouldn't matter what the oil pressure is to cause oil to leak past the distributor shaft. Check the local wrecking yards in your area for the distributor.

SOURCE: Oil in distributor

I think the seal around the distributor shaft is the primary problem. The oil is definitely causing the engine performance issues.

SOURCE: distributor

why, idk. Where, well the only way oil could be getting into you cap is if for some reason it's coming up the distributor shaft. I've worked on many distributor vechiles and NEVER came across this problem. But there is a first time for everything.

SOURCE: oil is getting inside distributor

check you PCV system you are getting to much crankcase pressure and this is causing the oil in the distributor, if the PCV system is working then suspect to much blow-by from piston rings.

Wen water get inside the distributor it can become dry?

Yes, you can dry out a wet distributor cap. The best and fastest thing to use is acetone; you can get it in the paint section of a hardware store. Acetone has a very high affinity for water, it dries really fast and has very low toxicity; they use it for finger nail polish remover. [Most finger polish remover has oil in it, but some is marked 100%, make sure you don't get the stuff with oil in it or it will attract dirt; so will WD-40 no matter how much they claim you can use it for drying out distributor caps.]
Just make sure all of the acetone has dried before reinstalling the distributor cap or it will burn inside the cap and possibly crack it.

97 Nissan 200sx 2.0l....car wont stay running when put in gear. When idling sometimes when engine is reved up it stalls, other times while idling I can rev it up and its smooth but once I put it in gear it...

You'll need to change the distributor, as the distributor shaft oil seal has gone bad. Without sufficient spark, you'll have no power. Don't forget a new cap/rotor.

Nissan 200sx 2.0, misses and wont stay running in gear and wont idle at times in park. Other times runs gr8. Oil inside dist cap?

Oil in the distributor will do that. But why is oil getting in there? The positive crankcase ventilation(PCV valve) should prevent this. Plus the should be one seal on the distributor and /or cam. I would pull the distributor and check for sloppiness. Also check for the cap seal. Oil could be from the valve cover.

Oil in the distributor cap causing random multiple misfires

I used to have a 1984 Bronco II which would wick oil up into the distributor, Ford eventually redesigned it and it was OK. A reason why you should never buy the first model year of anything. You need to buy a new distributor, or at least replace the O-ring seal which is supposed to keep all crankcase stuff inside the crankcase. The car is nearly 15 and I would go with a new distributor if you can get one, did not even think Mazda still had distributors in that year. If you have never pulled a distributor, have someone else do this as you will never get the spark timed right and you will end up giving the car away.

Just changed spark plugs but car sputters in 1st gear and other gears in the higher rpms. All the gaps are at .044 now not sure if maybe make the gaps a lil bigger or what

if you are misfiringafter replacing plugs, than i think that you have a problem with your distributor. those had some issues with leaking oil inside of the distributor assembly. you need to remove the distributor cap and rotor and then remove this black round cover thats where the oil gets trapped and it leaks on the signal plate inside of the distributor causing misfire. you may have oil leaking out when you remove the cap bu it self. check that and let me know what you find.
