SOURCE: cant set timing on 1991 nissan maxima

The marks are for an initial reference only. Once the belt is correctly in place and proper tension set, the cam is in time with the crankshaft and will stay that way until the belt breaks or slips from one cog to the next (won't happen if the tension is correct).

After the belt is initially set with the marks lined up, two rotations of the crankshaft (one rotation of the camshaft) will have the marks in a different place. The only exception would be if the belt had an exact multiple of ribs/teeth compared to the crankshaft, and that is not very likely.

If your belt came with marks, then they should match the marks that are on the sprockets and block, if not, you must have the cam marks align with those on the engine. If you're in doubt about the exact spot, lay a tooth pick across the sprockets so that you can check alignment to the block.

SOURCE: How to remove the radio - 1996 Nissan Maxima QX cd/c assette play

If the unit has 4 small holes on the face, get a wire hanger and insert into all 4 holes at once, releasing the retaining clips.
If unit does not have 4 holes on face, remove dash panel around stereo. This can be done by simply pulling the panel off, as it is only held on with "pop in" clips. The unit will be hard fastened to the car with screws and brackets that are easily accessable and will be visible when the dash panel is removed.

Nissan Maxima. Can a water pump or thermostat cause mixing oil and water?

Question edited for clarity.

No to both. The water pump is chain driven and takes water from one side and pumps it out under pressure from the other. The thermostat is fully enclosed in a housing with no access to oil.

Oil in Coolant only comes from a failed head gasket where the oil and water channels are in close proximity and under combustion pressure of hundreds of pounds.

Water pumps are designed to pump water through the engine, radiator, and heating system. Water pumps will not cause oil to enter the cooling system.Oct 4, 2016

How to fix water going into oil on 1995 nissan

You might have a cracked timing chain cover, blown head gasket, cracked block, or bad radiator if it has a built in oil cooler. It's hard to say without a cooling system pressure tester.

1998 nissan maxima problem water in the oil

If there is water in the oil, it wouldn't last long under the heat/pressure of the engine, so if you are seeing water it must be super fresh. Are you losing coolant? If so, then i'd suspect water pump/water pump gasket if you never had that replaced. It could be head gasket, but you would probably experience a consistent coolant loss with maybe loss of power or misfiring. You can check with a pressure/leak down test for head gasket. Either way, if you are losing coolant I'd check water pump. If you aren't losing coolant than it can't be the water pump or head gasket really letting "water" in.

I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima and it has been leaking coolant come to find out it leaked into the oil. Now car will not start, how do I fix it? Thanks

does car turn over or is it seized-if seized might be better to look for a new ,rebuilt or bone yard motor depending on ur $$$ status---if turns over coolant gets into oil by either bad or cracked intake or intake gasket----blown head or head gasket---cracked cylinder these are the cuses that oil and coolant mix and neither is a simple fix will need to pull motor apar for repair

ENGINE STOP THEN START

Sounds like head gasket issues. A compression test would help to narrow down. Also if you see oil in your radiator water or water in your oil. Could also be burnt out valve. I am thinking initially top end motor issue.

How can I know if its mixing water and oil, i once drove the car with no water in the radiotor and it switched itself off. now it starts but the engine light goes on after some distance. someone told me...

Hi. If you open the water resevoir bottle, you will plainly see the oil in the water if it has blown a head gasket. SOunds to me like a sensor of some kind. Why not take it to Nissan for a fre diagnosis. Hope this helps

My 93 maxima got no power an smoke started to come out the tail end.

The best test is a compression test.
Blue smoke means it's burning oil, due to worn out piston rings.
White smoke means it's mixing antifreeze and oil due to a bad head gasket or cracked head or block.

Engine oil going into the radiator on my 2003 nissan maxima

See if the intake has blown a gasket it could be leaking water into theoil. If its getting hot then you probly have a blown head gasket. Julie
