Toyota 4runner 1994 engine codes 12,52,71 what are these

ok why not get the scan codes, the flash codes from the ECU.?
you insert a 5cent paper clip jumper in to the Diagnostic, jumper plug
and it flashes out what test is failing.
the operators guide covers the BRAKE lamp.
low fluid, or hand brake sticking on, or brake failure.
the tests are in the FSM , or alldata.com for brake lamp.

burning cant be done online, only hands on eyes on.

More than likely its just a bad sensor on the transmission. Run a code reader to find out which one.

2.4L code 71 - EGR Gas Temp Sensor

There is a test procedure to tell if bad sensor or wiring problem, can email diagram to you if like need an email address to send to

as long as it is the sae style of the one you pulled out. it should by all means. just make sure all the bell housing bolt holes line up with the engine and the driveline fits as well.

With any trouble codes you can not get away with not trouble shooting to find out were the problem is at.

that code is for rpm signal and possible causes are the distributor wire harness from dis. to ecu (engine computer) or ecm itself! do you have rpm tach working on the dash? if so it might have seen the fault for a few seconds and set the code if you don't have rmp tach then you need to diagnois the cuase by testing the signal out of the dis. then down the line! if you have any more question please ask. good luck
