Follow the positive battery cable to the starter relay. It is mounted on the driver's side fender. Disconnect the battery first to be safe, then simply unbolt the cables from the defective unit, put them onto the new unit, then remove the old unit from the fender, and install the new unit and reattach the battery. Here is a pic of what your relay switch looks like:

Why wont vehicle turn over

Is the anti-theft light lit ? Is the starter relay good ? Do you know what a relay is ? Are the battery cables good ? I would start will the starter relay circuit's if the anti-theft light is not lit.! The starter relay along with the starter relay diode is located in the battery junction box in the engine compartment. The relay is K-22 . If you pull out the relay an look on the bottom of the relay you should see four sets of numbers 30,87 an 85 ,86 . If you take a jumper wire (12-14 gage ) an jump pins 30 an 87 if the battery cables & connections are good the starter will crank . Pin's 85 &86 are the control side of the relay . One of these comes from the ignition switch when is start position an the other goes through the transmission range sensor (park neutral switch) To ground or the PCM if yours has a V-8 . Now if when you jump pins 30 & 87 an nothing happens you have bad connections or the battery cable is bad . You can go on youtube an check out videos on voltage drop testing the starter circuit .

short across the big terminals of the starter solenoid and it the starter spins then the problem will be in the light wires that operate the starter solenoid.

Where's the starter relay switch on a 1995 ford contour

The starter relay is mounted on the starter itself. To see if the relay itself is working, check for voltage on the small wire on the relay while someone is turning the key to the "Start" position. If you have voltage there but the starter doesn't work, then replace the entire starter and relay assembly.

1995 Taurus. Starter will not disengage. Engine cranks, but will not turn over.

Find the starter relay under the hood. It may be bad and stuck so power continues going to the starter. Try a new relay Or try pulling off the small signal wire on the relay (it is from the switch), and hook battery up. If starter continues to run, the relay is bad. If starter is stopped, put the signal wire back on relay. If starter now starts operating, and key is still off, then switch may be bad .Location of relay may be at left front fender apron, in front of shock tower (like on earlier taurus models).

Starter won't kick in, replaced starter but still intermittent. Is there a starter relay between the ignition and starter?

you need what is called a starter selenoid. This acts like a relay to the starter. You can check your start for free at any parts store. If it checks out, buy the selenoid. The selinoid is the unit that one of you battery connections go to

95 taurus starter relay location?

I believe on the 95's, the starter relay is located within the CCRM (a large black box that is located next to your battery). The starter relay itself is not replaceable, you have to replace the entire CCRM (Constant Control Relay Module).
