My guess is that your gauge is faulty and is only taking 11 gallons to fill it, and you have a 'reserve' of 19 gallons in the bottom.

Or it was used for smuggling and has a sealed compartment.

Try to fill gas tank, gas pump nozzle clicks off, sometimes as much as 10 times in 1 gallon pumped. Something wrong with pipe to tank?

There should be an air vent coming from the top of the gas tank back to the top of the fuel tank. Possibly kinked or pinched, try pulling the fuel nozzle about half way out and filling the tank on the lowest setting the fuel pump will let you.

How many miles per gallon does my pontiac get?

Fill the gas tank till the filler nozzle clicks

Zero the trip meter

Drive the car for say 100 miles

Fill up the tank again until the nozzle goes click again

Take a note of the number of gallons you put in divide that number into 100

So 5 gallons divided into 100 will tell you that the car is doing 20 mpg

if you have added 4 Gallons and 3 pints then divide the 100 by 4.40 which gives you 22.73mpg

When I pump gas, the gas pump clicks off every few seconds or so. I can't get more than 2 gallons in the tank before it clicks off. I takes me like 10 minutes to fill my tank.

does your car run fine on the 5 gallons you stick in each time? if so I would say that your fuel pump is ok. I would take the tank out and see if there is some obstruction in the fill tube and tank orface, also look inside the tank for any floating debris, check and or replace the tank vent

2004 hyundai accent. trouble filling gas tank

I have a 2005 Hyundai Accent, It is not possible to fill the tank if you are letting the petrol pump run at full speed.Trying to fill up quickly it will only build up pressure and cut off. Next time you fill up just pull the petrol pump handle half way, it will take longer to fill but you wont get the blow back. Modern petrol pumps are getting quicker all the time.Hope this helps you.

More than likely your charcoal cannister is full of spilled fuel from topping the tank off. If this is the case you may need to replace the charcoal cannister. Once they fill up, they will not allow air to vent and will cause a vapor lock that will prevent the fuel from going into the tank.

Push the pump in with more force because the pump has safety procaution so gas doesnt spill
