You need a test light .connect the clamp end to the battery positive post . then remove the horn relay .prob pin 86. have some hold the horn button down .it should light if the circuit is ok. if not then remove the 4 or 2 bolts that hold the air bag to the steering wheel .do not unplug or appliy power to the yellow connector it will deploy the air bag. you should see the two black wires to the horn buttons. with a ohm.meter mesure the one that gose to the clock spring assembley.it should be open untill you press the horn button then it should short to ground. if it dose the clock spring is bad. but you will want to test it first.My horn is not working but the alarm go' s off and - sgm1115_48.png

  • Check the fuse under the dash. The security system either has it's own horn or is hard wired into your horn. If it was not someone could pull the fuse to disable the horn blowing while steeling your vehicle. Check your horn fuse under the dash.

Alaam sound is turned off in 2000 mercury mountaineer

The actual alarm horn may be disconnected /shorted bad ground or burnt out . Is the alarm horn the same as the car horn? Does the car horn work? Alarm horns popular for burning out.

The alarm sets but no horn sounds and flasher dont work every thing seems wired the way it should be key fobs work hear main box click and led lite works just no horn or flashers?

You just diagnosed the electrical short in the alarm system but now the question is where? Check the wiring at the main junctions since you have 2 problems at once. By the way the horn & flashers do work other than using the alarm, Right? If so start at the fuse box & trace the wiring where the alarm is spliced in.

Car horn doesn't work, airbag light on, but car alarm works

The problem is likely with the clockspring in the steering column. The wiring for the horn button and the driver's air bag go through the clockspring. If you want to fix it yourself, I can probably find the procedure for you, but this is really a job for a professional auto electrician.

How do you troubleshoot the horn

if your horns work with alarm using remote, then fuse and relay good if you hear no horn using remote set off alarm,and horn pad dont work, replace horn fuse and relay, if both okay, you have to replace the whole horn pad with air bag in steering wheel both horn control pads and airbag is one assembly.

Horn works when you hit the alarm button but dont work when you hit the horn from the steering wheel

Check the fuses first, the alarm is likely wired in after the fuse for the horn switch on its own fuse. If it is not the fuse it is either the horn switch itself (inside the steering wheel) or the wiring. If the alarm was installed at the factory when the truck was made it is most likely a fuse, then the switch. If the alarm was installed aftermarket it is most likely a fuse, then the wiring where the alarm was spliced into the horn wire, then the switch. Get back to me if this doesn't help.

1989 toyota pickup horn not working, fuse is fine. I have an alarm, is that the same as the horn cause that works fine. Pulled alarm wires a while back and re wired them the sound works fine but horn just...

when I had that problem it was the contacts under the steering wheel pull the steering wheel and you will see a copper ring the horn is connected to ground out that copper ring against the steering column if the horn sounds you have a worn contact I fixed mine by putting a spacer under that copper ring good luck with it

Van alarm was going off. Wasnt the horn going off and on like an alarm does. It was a constant sound.

has your alarm got it`s own sounder or does it work with the vehicle horn.
If it works with the vehicle horn, then it could be the earth wire(ground wire) corroded.
let me know what happens
