2006 subaru forester,check engine light is on and cruise light is flashing, diagnoses code P0026

Your exhaust system is plugged, probably at the Catalytic Converter.

get it serviced

replace this oil control valve subaru part number 25240aa060

its the most common cause of the code p0026

Same as the last time you got a MIL lamp on any vehicle

Check for codes,look them up & diagnose the system that
set the codes & then component test

Impossible to diagnose without the trouble codes. Get the codes read and post here. ALWAYS start by reading the trouble codes to get a starting point.

cruise light flashing, no cruise engine light on. spent $80 for diagnoses of PO 456 but not able to fix it. No dealer within 100 miles. Not good.
Must fix myself or autozone can do it. maybe.

if te check engine light is on the cruise wont work it just flashes if you erase check engine light and cruise still flashes hit cruise button twice it will go out but if engine kicks the check engine light it will flash again you have to fix what ever it is that kicks check engine light or you just deal with it

could be transmission fault, connect the 2 loose black plugs together under the drivers side dash, turn on ignition, no start, the ecl will flash the code, slow flashes are 10's and fast ones are 1's. codes can be got from bba-reman.com

To properly diagnose problem and the seriousness of it, you should either purchase an OBD2 code reader or take it to a mechanic to read the code and diagnose the problem based on the code. I've also heard you can go to an Autozone store and their staff will let you use their code reader for free.
The OBDII port is located just inches below the steering wheel.

the test will show as many problems/codes as are present in the memory of the PCM. (power train control module) If u were charged for this repair he or she did not do the job of diagnosing the code properly, they guessed, the reason for this is only the dealer has the correct equip to work on your Subaru and try and get it fixed right the 1st time, that is why dealer costs are higher, tech training and lots of expensive test gear.
