Normal temps for your car should be around 205-210 degrees.

The thermostat should be located on the bottom radiato hose, where it meets the engine. trace the hose from the bottom of the rad. to where it connects to the motor and you should find the thermostat there. usually on the back side of the engine around the intake manifold

1998 nissan maxima v6 overheating

If it overheats in the first mile, my guess would be no coolant in the system or a stuck thermostat.

If the thermostat on my 1996 nissan maxima is bad, shouldnt my cars temperature be gettin hot?

Not necessarily, some thermostats are set to fail in the open position. The only way to check the thermostat is to take it our and see if it is open. If it is, it has failed. If not, slowly bring it up to boil in a pot of water and a thermometer to see when it starts to open. That temperature should be printed on the thermostat. If it does not pass this test, replace it, but at the price of thermostats you may just as well replace it anyway.

See if you have a leak in any of your coolant tubes. If no leaks, you may have a bad thermostat that is stuck closed and needs to be replaced asap.

This happened to me before. You probably need to replace your mass air flow.

All the time, Idling or driving? Radiator fans working? Thermostat changed lately? Rad flushed lately? Coolant level up in rad & return bottle?

2001 nissan maxima overheating problem persists

It sounds like the the thermostat that was replaced is probably faulty. This being the cheapest and easiest to do I would start there. I can't reply about the air pockets. I have never heard of that before.

Nissan 1999 Maxima is over heating

Most likely not. Pulling the thermostat will get you home, but not a great fix. Is it overheating driving down the road or sitting still? If it is overheating driving down the road, look for a clogged radiator or stuck thermostat. If it overheats sitting still, look for your cooling fans not coming on.

Check your battery terminals, if they're corroded replace them. That did it when I was having this problem.
