Have wire on PIN #21 of ECBM . Wiring chart says circut 818 . Also says not used without LGZ what is LGZ? It is vehicle speed sensor. I changed engine new 08 engine in 06 car have 08 TCM ECM and BCM . I am getting C0561 and traction control is disabled. Should i remove the brown wire from the harness?

What engine ? could have come with three different one's ? 3.5 ,3.9, 5.3 LGZ is a RPO code - look at RPO sticker on your vehicle . Could be driver door jam ,glove box , maybe trunk .

absolutely not true. when you take your stock radio out of your vehicle there are clips in it and when u take the clips out and the antenna the radio is free when you buy an aftermarket radio from best buy or wherever it will come with a harness for that specific radio now wherever you buy the radio from they probably have a selection of wiring harness for specific makes and models you just buy that and when u take it to the clips installed in the cavalier it will just snap in then the wires on the radio harness will be color coded to the ones on your new harness good luck!

ps i recommend walmart to buy the harness its about $10 there..

Try changing the fuel pump or the fuel pump relay ECMB fuse controlls the pump control.

Here is some information that I find useful when wiring trailer connectors, and the brake controller should be wired into the vehicles wiring according to the instructions that came with the brake controller and that identifies each wire from the brake controller.

Be sure that you solder all connections well for the best operation, and you should use 10 or 12 ga. wire for the Pos. (+) connection, and the ground or Neg. (-) connection, and you should run both wires all the way out to the battery, and about one foot from the battery on the Pos. (+) wire to the battery, make sure that you use a 20 or 30 amp Circuit Breaker and Do Not Use A Fuse.

P0501 - Vehicle Speed Sensor (G22): Implausible Signal Possible Causes
  • Wiring/Connectors from/to Vehicle Speed Sensor (G22) faulty

Speedometer
The speedometer is an analog gauge that is located in the instrument cluster. The PCM/VCM receives an analog input from the vehicle speed sensor and converts it to a digital signal containing 4,000 pulses per mile (PPM) for the instrument cluster.
The PCM/VCM sends this digital output (4,000 PPM) to the instrument cluster on a designated circuit. These pulses can be measured in Hertz (Hz) using a digital multimeter (DMM) on the AC scale. The PCM/VCM calibration is matched to the final drive and tire size of each vehicle. If the final drive or tire size is changed for any reason, the PCM/VCM must be updated in order to match the new final drive or tire size. If not, the signal will not be accurate for proper speedometer/odometer operation. An incorrect signal can affect the antilock brakes and the cruise control systems.
The speedometer system consists of the instrument cluster, vehicle speed sensor (VSS), PCM/VCM and related wiring. The VSS is a permanent magnet signal generator that sends an analog signal proportional to the propeller shaft speed to the PCM/VCM. The VSS mounts to the transmission tailshaft extension housing on 2-wheel drive (2WD) models and the transfer case output shaft housing on 4-wheel drive (4WD) models.
Repairs to the instrument cluster can only be performed by an authorized instrument cluster service center.

Diagnostic Aids
• An intermittent in the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) circuit may cause an inaccurate speedometer. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.
• Check for the following DTCs:
- DTC P0502 Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Circuit Low Input and DTC P0503 Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Circuit Intermittent in Automatic Transmission - 4L60-E
- DTC P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Circuit in Engine Controls - 4.3L

Disconnect the in line connector C101.
Turn ON the ignition.
Test the vehicle speed output (4K) circuit voltage from the in line connector C101 (female side of connector) to a good ground using the DMM J 39200 . Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
Does the DMM display a voltage greater than the specified value?

YES - Go to Step 8

have you ever used a diagnostic trouble flow test chart ? Let me know if you make it this far and then I will send the last 9 steps . It's either a wiring problem or instrument cluster or PCM is bad . And if the PCM is replaced it will need progamming . Dealer only .

What parts have to be removed to change output speedsensor on 97 sebring convertible jxi?

FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR

REMOVE
  1. Raise vehicle on jack stands or centered on a frame contact type hoist. See Hoisting in the Lubrication and Maintenance section of this manual, for the required lifting procedure to be used for this vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle.
  3. Remove the speed sensor cable routing bracket Speed Sensor Cable Routing Brackets from the steering knuckle. Remove the wiring harness sealing grommet retainer and speed sensor routing bracket from the inner fender.
  4. Remove speed sensor sealing grommet from the inner fender Wheel Speed Sensor Connection To Vehicle Wiring Harness Then unplug the speed sensor cable from the vehicle wiring harness Wheel Speed Sensor Connection To Vehicle Wiring Harness
  5. Remove bolt Speed Sensor Head Attachment To Steering Knuckle attaching the speed sensor head to the steering knuckle. Then remove speed sensor head from steering knuckle. CAUTION: If speed sensor head locating pin has seized to the steering knuckle, do not attempt to remove speed sensor head by grasping with pliers and turning. This will damage the speed sensor head. Use only the following procedure.
  6. If speed sensor head can not be removed from steering knuckle by hand, the locating pin on the speed sensor head has seized to the steering knuckle do to corrosion. Remove speed sensor head from steering knuckle using the following procedure. Remove disc brake caliper from steering knuckle, and remove brake rotor from hub/bearing assembly. Then insert a pin punch through hole in front steering knuckle Speed Sensor Head Removal From Steering Knuckle and tap speed sensor head locating pin out of steering knuckle.

use a real scan tool ($9 ask), if in USA and is 1996 or newer.
plug it in and read all the codes.
No vehicle distance (speed) sensor signal detected during road load conditions.
this means the VSS is dead.
the veh, speed ,sensor.
is the speedometer dead too?
is the A/T shifting funny? (tranny)??

There are two different problems first off the speed indicator dial will go haywire it flickers and changes by itself as you drive or while its idling.When you turn the heater blower on the car acts up...

Wow a lot going on there it seems. Well for starters 96 was the year all vehicles made in and after that year had to be obdII (onboard diagnostic 2) compliant, which means a common scanner communication point, location (within reason) and a set of global obd2 codes for all makes and models to help with emission standards and diagnostics of such systems. A late 95 may have called a 96 and be only obd1 and another 96 be obdII possibly causing discrepancies in the wiring, or even simpler a different transmission option, etc. Secondly vehicle speed sensors are normally magnetic induction sensors on late model vehicles, but can be hall effect or mechanical. Each one produces a different signal, for example a magnetic induction sensor will produce an analog signal to the pcm or tcm converted inside to digital signal so the computer understands and can intepret the information. A hall effect will produce a digital signal and send it to the pcm or tcm for direct interpretation. Normally input and output shaft speed sensors are used to tell the tcm what gear the transmission is in when compared to one another against a chart in its memory. On some models they will have vehicle speed sensors as well that will tell the pcm the vehicle speed which will relay that information to the instrument cluster to operate the speedo head. If you have a scan tool to read datastream values would be great to monitor the readings from the speed sensors while driving, but you could check the sensors signal with a dvom on a hoist. Also i have seen a couple of mid to late 90's intrepids melt the connections inside the interior fuse panel on the drivers side, causing many erractic things to occur. Ensure all the fuses and panel inself is in tact. got to go for now, hope this will help, any more questions let me know.
