I changed the altenator, but cant get the belt to go back on right. I tried putting it on the back half of the double pulley, but the car sqealed and didnt run right, but when the belt is angled funny when I put it on the front half. Do you have the diagram for the tensioner belt? (My car actually has 2 seperate belts and I have no picture diagrams on this car to tell you which way to run the belts)>

If the belt is angled funny, you do not have it routed correctly.
There should be a belt routing diagram under the hood somewhere. Check that the pulley position of the new alternator is the same as the old alternator.

Why not identify your vehicle; Which model? What year? Which engine? Does it have A/C? Answering these questions will allow myself and others to give you a much better answer.

There are several different belt diagrams. If you don't identify your vehicle, you can't be helped.

I cant get the crankshaft bolt off

They are sometimes installed with threadlock compound which makes it very difficult. How big and powerful was the impact wrench? Is there scope yet to hire a really huge one?

The bump method is a last resort because it puts the flywheel ring gear teeth at some risk. Break one of those and you are up for expense.

My 98 civic sat for a week, after a week i started it, and it started putting out white smoke. there was a loud sqealing sound for 5-10 seconds, and so i stopped the car. after the smoke cleared i tried...

The white smoke was probably oil that had seeped into the cylinder while the engine stood for that week, it is not right but if it does not re-occur you can overlook it for a while but you will have to attend to the valve stem seals at some stage. The squealing would be the altenator belt slipping on the pulley. Check the belt, it is either so loose that the altenator is not charging now, or the belt has snapped. Please rate this answer if you find it heplful.

Altenator tension arm has no spring causes belt sqeal and engine to die out.how to cahnge tension arm

Your truck has one belt and one idler pulley. To tighten it you will need a large bar (a breaker bar, crowbar or large screwdriver will work) Loosen the idler pulley bolt (not all the way) just enough to break it loose then use the bar against the pulley to tension the belt. If there are parts missing from the idler pulley, a new one must be purchased.

Cant find drive belt tensioner bolt to loosen serpintine belt

The serpentine belt tensioner / pulley is on the front of the engine, and part of the belt 'routing'.

Its job is to put tension on the belt as it drives the other devices like the power steering pump, water pump, air conditioning compressor.

It is an aluminum casting that mounts with a single bolt to the engine. The pulley is attached to the arm.

There are a few ways to move / pry the arm inwards, thus releasing the tension on the belt for removing/installing: grab on the pulley bolt (15mm?) with a wrench, or some later models have an opening for a 3/8th socket wrench to attach to directly without a socket.
