That is an interesting question. KIA will stand for exactly that; Killed In Action. I personally would not run the engine after draining the oil, lol. I get what you are saying though. Once the oil is drained, drain plug reinstalled, filter changed, and engine refilled with clean oil, the engine may be started right away. It will make a noise for a second or 2. Run it for about 10 seconds, wait 10 -15 seconds, double check you level. If I remember right, 4 quarts. Start there and 5W 20 is the recomended weight.

I am not sure what you are asking. if it is what i think then you are heading for trouble.
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER run a engine without oil in it. you will destroy the motor. drain your oil, change the filter then add the amount of oil your owners manual says to . Then start it and check for leaks.

SOURCE: How long after draining the

If you drained out all the oil out of the engine, then wait to run it until you have added enough oil back to it to show "full" on the dipstick. DO NOT run an engine without oil in the crankcase.

When checking oil on a 2015 Chrysler 200, should the engine be running?

Engine oil should always be checked with the engine off, and the car sitting on level ground. Waiting a bit for the oil to drain back down into the oil pan will give you a more accurate reading.

Is replacing an oil pan in a 2004 toyota camry an easy fix ?

It isn't too hard. You need to drain the oil first ( make sure to change the gasket around the plug every time you remove and replace the plug or it will leak), then drop the oil pan... put down lots of absorber pads as there will be droppings. Have a rag on hand for your hands. Scrape and clean the old seal where the oil pan meets the engine then put on a new one once it is thoroughly cleaned. Put on new pan, or repair old one.... again make sure to replace oil pan gasket and new oil drain gasket ( around plug..) since your going that far get a new oil filter also.... fill the new filter with oil before installing, fill up the engine with new oil..ps. It takes a few minutes to run down so wait between oil bottles and check the level ( don't run the car) fill the oil until the dip stick reads full ( remember wait a few minutes between each liter of oil to give it a chance to leak into the bottom of the engine). I believe it is around 4.5 quarts including the amount needed to fill the filter.

Dear Lourdes ,go to parts store and get oil for car , and filter for car and a filter wrench that fits filter, raise car so you can under it ,remove drain plug from oil pan in to a container that can be used for recycling and let oil drain avg10 min or so replace drain plug and tighten , use filter wrench to remove filter (unscrewing it ,not over tightening) it ,take new filter put alight film of oil on rubber seal of filter ,put it back on motor ,(not over tighten or under tightening ), lower car and fill motor with proper type of oil and fill to proper level using dipstick to check level,. start and run motor for a few min. then shut off and wait a few min . for oil to return back into oil pan and recheck oil level to be sure it is at proper level .

If my car should be on or off jacks when draining the oil

If your at home changing the oil, how would you
get under it to work on it,change the oil ,etc, without
raising it up & supporting it on quality jack stands?

You would be better to put it on the ground level when
you have added the new oil & are going to start it, verse
leaving it on stands at an angle

Have to add oil to the new filter

Oil will not completly drain when changing the oil

If you haven't already, you can try starting the engine, and getting it up to running temperature. Then turn it off and wait about 10 minutes to avoid possible burning. This will help the oil flow more easily.

Oil change 1994 Cadillac Eldorado

well let me see you have 4.6L engine you need 7.5 quarts of oil with new oil filter.to do the oil change you need large drain pan and oil filter wrench and a metric wrench to remove oil drain plug you need a funnel also.you need first start engine let it run for 5 minutes to warm up thin out the oil so it will flow better.once engine warm up.turn off the engine.open you hood.now safely raise support vechicle on jack stands make sure vechicle parked on solid level ground.place large drain pan under oil pan remove oil drain plug you need a 15m wrench remove drain plug let all old oil drain out until you see slow drip then reinstall oil drain plug dont over tighten drain bolt.then place drain pan under the oil filter then remove oil filter using oil filter wrench or large channel lock pliers.once you remove oil filter wipe oil filter seal surface with clean paper towel.take new oil filter add oil to new filter then install new oil filter hand tight take filter wrench turn oil filter one half more turn dont over tighten will damage oil filter seal.make sure oil pan drain plug is in place. then lower vechicle. remove oil filler cap on the valve cover add new oil to the engine using a funnel to keep from spilling oil all over the valve cover and exhaust manifold.add all 7.5 quarts to oil crank case wait until oil settle down in crank case check oil dip stick oil level should be at the full mark on oil dip stick.dont over fill crank case.once you finished oil level correct crank engine check for oil leaks at oil filter and oil drain plug. if engine running okay you see no oil warning lights you ready wheel and deal.

How do I change oil and filter on bmw 5 series 1992

warm engine up then raise/jack up front of vehicle there is a 17mm nut/oil plug on the bottom of the aluminum oil pan that you will need to remove and drain into oil pan that can hold at least 7qt of oil. then from the top there is a round aluminum cover with a 13mm bolt near the front of the engine that will need to removed and the oil filter is inside that will need to be replaced dont forget to replace the seals on the cap and screw that come with the oil filter. then after oil is finished draining re-install drain plug with new seal lower car back on grond and then install new oil filter and seals then add oil 6qt. to start then start engine and run for 30 sec. wait 10sec. then check oil level and add as needed

I don't know how much oil i need for an oil change

With oil filter you'll need 5 quarts. After changing oil and filter run briefly and check for leaks. Shut down the engine and check oil level is correct.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom
