I just changed the oil in my daughters 1999 Saab 95. It has been running very rough since changing oil. It sat for a year with occasional run around the block. I have been told that the head gasket may be blown from drying out, or adding too much oil? Does this sound possible? I did notice some oil in the spark plug wells in the front bank, and drained some oil and removed and cleaned the plugs. It id not look like there was too mcuh oil.
Head gaskets do not "dry out"
running rough indicates injector problems --stale fuel dirty injectors or sticking injectors
run the fault codes to determine fault area
oil around spark plugs indicates that the rocker cover seal under the plug tube is leaking into the plug area

There is a top panel between the 2 overhead cams that holds all the ignition wiring that is bolted in with saab hex head screws.
Once these are undone you will lift this panel off, I would suggest leaving the wiring connected and then you will see the 4 plugs underneath like most normal cars.
Make sure they are the correct ones though

I had a similar problem with my Saab, stalled at red lights when idling,
As suggested by Greg I suspected the IAC and was just about going to the repair shop and have the ECU codes pulled.
Anyway, I decided it could be a good idea to check the engine air filter first. It turned out to be rather dirty so I changed it, This solved the problem in my case, the car has worked perfectly ever since.
Sometimes it can be very simple!
