Go get a NOID tester from your local auto parts store and plug it into every injector to see and make sure that each injector is receiving the proper pulse that its supposed to. The only other thing I would check would be fuel pressure. That will give some similar problems

if you want to get rid of your MAF sensor, you will need to upgrade your engine management. there are a few piggy-back systems like MAP-ECU . you could also go with a stand-alone system like the AEM EMS

ok heres the thing when a car sets for a long time you have to do more then just clean the tank you also need to flush and replace all fluids in it and replace the fuel filter (that one is key because it empties out the fuel lines and injectors) and also please do youself a favor and replace the timing belt i can not stress that enough every 60,000 miles or 18 months please just to be safe replace the timing belt these 6 bolt 2.0 engines are great and so easy and cheap to build but if you brealk that timing belt you will be buying a new engine but truth be told sonds like you have and intake sensor thats gone out pop ur air can off and check the mas for a wasp nest or something like that

You are spinning your tires ... read your manual ... shut off the traction control .... spin away!

Ignition coils has to be the answer. if it was the fuel pump your car wouldnt start. So i would say contact audi. they should have sent you a letter in the mail. We have the same car and i got a letter from them. ignition coils are the recall for the 02 a4.
