If it only clunks on a left or right turn. Then check the upper strut mount, these are known to make noise. Or it may need an upper strut plate. God-Bless!
there is no access to do this. only way to close it would be to disengage the sunroof from the tracks and motor very difficult to
do best to bring it to experienced tech
replace the hatch rams , they get weak and stop holding up the hatch,, you can get replacements at most parts stores, Just be sure and double check the ends ,, they do vary
2005 Looks early for changing the struts, But anyhow you won't need anything except the struts but i dont exactly know if you want to change the struts and springs or just struts.
I suggest having the full suspension validated at a dealer including the anti-sway assembly.
After so many years, the front struts / rear shocks are probably in need of replacement and those the the components that are primarily responsible to dampen wheel instability. I replaced mine at 160k miles and the returned control with the new struts was incredible.
Testing struts is not as simple as bouncing the car up and down as some may have you believe.

The steering components need to be greased is my first option, but if this doesn't help, then your problem could be the power steering pump causing the sound.
i have the same problem. I just got it looked at this morning at the dealer and they said the hatchback latch is binded. they would have to order a new part. total cost was close to $400. I passed on that, and am going to get it looked at by a shop for a better price.
