Re: Parking brake on my 2004 2.5SE Auto does not release...
It is possible that the handbake cable is wrapped around the wrong side of the sway bar link rod N/S rear, while looking at it on ground behind car cable should sit on top not behind link rod
Same "parking break failure" on my 03 S-Type. Dealer says reaquires whole new replacement, including motor to release it - $1400 job. I told them to find a way around that - I'll keep you posted.
park brake faulty and airbag lite stays on throughout the drive.
I have had a similiar problem in that the Parkbrake on my 04 SE S type has locked on. I have tried a system reboot in case the problem was electrical and this has permitted the removal of the parkbrake on a case by case instance. Unfortunately this means that the battery has to be disconnected for 10-15 minutes before each use of the car and during that time, the boot lid must remain open else it cannot be reopened without power. Much like everyone else.... Jaguar tried to BS me and say that it is the PB motor which needs replacing when the fault is clearly electrical. They say this because the motor would fall under wear and tear therefore not be covered by warranty whereas the electrical system would not.
