I just installed a new battery in my Suburban and the driver's side air conditioner is blowing hot air while the passenger side is normal cold. I tried the suggested fix and so far it seems ok. I will let you know if it acts up again. I was able to temporarily fix it by shutting off the ignition and re-starting, but it would do it again.

On most climate control systems you must have the ignition switch in the on position when you put the battery cables back on the battery. Then let the car sit for about 1 minute for reset. Put the neg cable on first then the pos cable on last .This should do it
good luck

Does it matter if the heat or ac is on or off when you do this?

WOW, works great but you do have to connect the neg lead first then the positive as shown, I tried it the other way and it only changed the side the hot air was blowing out of.

thanks

Try to play with your controls...

put it on heater mode then after 2 mins, put it back to ac mode and observe..

the flaps sometimes stuck to its position and by putting it back and forst would unstuck and it and might work again .

cheers,

Yr 2000 ac not cooling on drivers side blows warm to cool air on drivers side and cold air on pass. side freeon checks good antifreeze checks good

1. Low freon. A mechanic once told me that the car will act like this when it needs a freon recharge. Such did not solve my problem, however. 2. Stuck door. There is supposedly a "door" (for want of a better term) inside the heating/cooling system that regulates temperature and/or cabin airflow. The door opens and closes according to the temperature and and dual climate settings selected. If this door gets stuck, it causes hot to blow out drivers side and cool on the passenger side. I am suspicious of this theory. Why would hot air correctly blow out of both sides? I had another mechanic tell me this one. 3. temperature sensor improperly reset. I read online that if the battery gets disconnected and reconnected improperly, it will cause a malfunction in the sensor responible for delivering the proper temp through the a/c system. The solutions posted were disconnect the battery and reconnect with negative terminal first; check all fuses that reference climate control, a/c , heater, etc in manual, remove for 15 seconds, reinsert or replace if necessary. This did nothing for me. However, I personally associate this intermittent problem with a battery reset. My wife's car has electrical problems (don't get me started) which necessitate frequent battery replacement. Everytime the battery has been disconnected, the problem starts again. 4. Computer malfunction. I also read that the problem may stem from the climate control interface itself (i.e. the thing with all of the temperature knobs and buttons). Replacing this is supposed to fix the problem. I have not tried this, and frankly, I refuse to do so. The only current solution I have ever found is patience. The problem seems to simply disappear after a while (albeit a long while). My wife and I both have Intrigues (Gasp!). They both have the same problem(s). Nothing works for either. Good luck. If you have success post your results.

2005 tahoe a/c blowing hot air on driver side (even when set on cold) passenger side and back vents blowing cold air. Why is this happening?

There is a actuator motor that controls this, and it is not working, unfortunately ,the whole dash has to be removed to replace the actuator motor. If this was at all helpful, please rate, thank you.

2000 jeep grand cherokee limited with climate controle and 6 cyl. the ac blows cold on the driver side and hot on the passenger side.

If you have duel climate control, it sounds like the blend doors inside the heater box have broke. It is a rather large repair to do. If you don't have duel climate control, look for a broken, leaking or aged vacuum line under the battery try. Hope this helps.

Best of luck

My 2005 suburban AC is blowing hot air; one minute it was blowing out cool air and then it started blowing as if the heat was on....

If you touched any of the A/C controls within 45 seconds of starting your Suburban (after the battery change), you messed up the 'calibration mode' of the HVAC.

Pull the HVAC fuse (10amp) under the hood, and pull the two adjacent fuses (30 and 10amp) under the dash listed as 'climate control' in the manual.

Push the fuses back in, restart your car, but DONT TOUCH ANY of the A/C controls for 90 seconds.

I bet the A/C starts working again normally.

Driver side air conditioning will not cool

are you not getting any air or hot air???
Here is a laundry list from my memory as to what may be causing causing the problem.
1. Low freon:car will act like this when it needs a freon recharge. Such did not solve my problem, however.
2. Stuck door. There is supposedly a "door" (for want of a better term) inside the heating/cooling system that regulates temperature and/or cabin airflow. Disconnect the battery and reconnect with negative terminal first; check all fuses that reference climate control, a/c , heater, etc in manual, remove for 15 seconds, reinsert or replace if necessary.
4. Computer malfunction. The problem may stem from the climate control interface itself (i.e. the thing with all of the temperature knobs and buttons). Replacing this is supposed to fix the problem.

Blowing hot air on the driver side other vents cool air

disconnect the battery and try again to re sync the two sides, this is a common problem on all dual climate GM cars, if you can't get them to resync then you will need to replace the climate control head..

Changed batteries and climate control not working properly

The actuator has gone bad. They can be programed, and reset, but usaly they are bad, and that will only patch the problem for a while.

Passenger side blows hot air when front control set to Air

you cant adjust it ,this requires the dealers computer to re set it,or a phyiscal control has packed up like a vacumn pipe has split where it pushes onto the valve that controls the flap in the heater unit.
