Put the key on ACC. Does anti theft light up and stop? If it keep flashing while your cranking then it is the ANTI -THEFT. (by the way the humming noise ifs the fuel pump). If the anti theft doesnt light up during the cranking youll need the ignition module why I say that if it was crank position sensor the fuel pump wouldnt activate. your safe with the ignition module.and if you want it doesnt hurt to replace crank sensor why I say this the year. Its been a while just a suggestion

My 04 rx330 won't start got plenty of power in the battery but when I turn the key I get nothing

There are some things you can do to fix the problem. Check battery connections: Even if the batteries are charged, it is important to make sure the battery cables are clean and tightly connected. Components with loose or damaged wires can interfere with efficient energy transfer. Check fuse relays: Check the vehicle fuse box for any blown fuses or defective relays that could affect the starting system. Transmission Position Sensor: If your vehicle has an automatic transmission, the transmission position sensor (neutral safety switch) may not work properly, preventing the vehicle from starting into gear Start the vehicle in both park and neutral and check that is there any difference. Check for safety system problems: Some cars have safety systems that can shut down the engine if there is a problem. Make sure the security light on the dashboard behaves as it should and try to use a spare key if there is one. Starter Motor: The starter motor may be faulty. Turn the key and listen for the clicking sound. If you hear a rapid clicking noise, it could indicate a faulty battery or a faulty starter motor. Hearing a click once could indicate a problem with the starter solenoid. Ignition switch: The ignition switch sends power to the starter when the key is turned. If faulty, it can prevent the engine from cranking. Try to notice a change when you change the key. Fuel Supply: If the engine cranks but does not start, there may be a fuel issue. Check the fuel level and make sure the fuel pump is working properly. Check engine light: If the check engine light illuminates, a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) may be stored in the vehicle computer.

Car wont start but lights work

Please provide with more detail. Does it make a click sound when turning the ignition? Does it crank?
Have you tried to jump the battery with jumping cable or tried it on a know good batteries?
- If the car does make a cranking noised then the starter is good but weak battery.
- If there is no noise or clicking, then dead battery.
- If you can hear the clicking when turning the key to start, then check for battery GROUND.
- If battery were tested and it read 12.5 - 14.0 DCV. Then your starter are bad.

There also other thing to check like security alarm system with ignition switch kill... But most common problems with fail to start are mention above.

Vehicle wont start

First, is the security light staying on or flashing ? You have a problem with the chip in the key or the security system if it is.
Otherwise, you need to know if you have battery power at both terminals on the starter when the key is in the start position. One possible cause is the neutral safety switch.

INGINE DOESn't START P1683

Depends on what are you hearing when you try to start. Does the Engine sound like it is trying to start, does the starter even spin? or when you turn the key you hear 1 click but all the lights and everything comes on? If you hear multiple clicks and your lights are dim, that means your battery is done. There are a few things you can check before spending a lot of money. First check to see if your battery is good, 2 check the battery terminals to make sure they are tight, 3 check the condition of the battery cables if they are old or rusty, try to replace them with new ones, they cost 8-10 bucks. 4 try to replace the starter relay in the engine fuse box, this costs 12 dollars usually. if none of these are the issue, then its either you starter solenoid or the starter motor has gone bad. I suggest instead of replacing the solenoid, replace the whole motor which comes with the solenoid.

Engine will not crank, battery and starter have both been tested and pass, hear a high pitched spinning noise when turning the key over

The high pitched spinning sound you hear is the starter bendex trying to engage the flywheel. The starter may check out ok, but the bendex is turning but coming out. The starter will need replaced.

My Van Is not cranking We thought it was the battery but found out that the battery is good. the horn and radio and stuff works but it will not evev try to crank

Are you getting a clicking noise at all? If not, I'd try the starter soleniod. (this is usually the problem - you can take the starter to an advanced auto and they can check it for you to be sure).

Otherwise it's the ignition (where you put your keys in). Sometimes these stop sending the 'start' signal.

How do I reset the computer in a 1997 Chevy Monte Carlo? The electrical has been acting "strangely" the last month, and then suddenly refused to start. The battery still lights up the car. Since it...

You can reset the computer by disconnecting the battery terminals from the battery and touching them together for 60 seconds. This probably won't fix your problem.

Is the 'weird noise' the normal noise you hear when you crank a car over? If so, that's the starter. If you don't hear it, you have a starter issue. You may want to try holding the brake, turning the key on to the first click, pulling the shifter into neutral, and trying. Sometimes this works and indicates a failing park/neutral switch. If not that, put car back into park. Have someone gently tap the starter with a hammer while you crank the engine. Sometimes this will jar a dead starter into motion. In that case, change the starter.

Ring back with more details if you need.

Battery Checked good. Starter relay and fuse checked good. Engine will not turn over at all. This just happened and gave no indications that something was wrong.

Do you hear a click or any noise at all when you turn the key to try to start it? It sounds like the starter could have gone bad. It should be just 2 big bolts but the starter is pretty solid so it could be heavy. It's a Jeep so you should have good clearance checking it out. The only way to be sure is to pull the starter and bench test it. Or you could just take it to a local auto parts store like Autozone or Advanced Discount Auto Parts, they'll test it for you.
Disconnect the Positive terminal from the battery.
Remove the 2 starter mounting bolts.
***You may need to disconnect the wires at the starter before removing the starter; however, on some starters this is not possible until AFTER you have unbolted the starter, and are able to move it around to access the electrical connections.
When you have removed the starter, jump it off after you have secured it in a bench vise or other means (there is a LOT of torque when these work), and you'll see if it performs as it should.
2 things happen when your starter is cranked:
1-the "bendix" will shoot out the spinning gear so it can engage your flywheel teeth,
and 2- the spinning gear will begin spinning very rapidly to turn your flywheel so the engine begins turning.

If either one of these actions do not occur, your starter will not crank your engine, although you would probably hear a noise of some kind. Other times you will smell electrical windings heating up, or a combination of any of these. Then again, sometimes starters just go bad and will not make any noise.

Hope this helps.
