Electronic Stability Control - Auto Diagnosis Repair Help

PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTIONBefore diagnosing ABS/TCS, perform a comprehensive visual inspection of system as follows.Check ABS/TCS wiring harness connectors for looseness. Check harness routing; pay particular attention to wheel speed sensor wiring harness routing. Check fuses No. 1D, 5B and 6B in instrument panel fuse block. First, check to see if your ABS and your TCS fuses are good. A lot of times, if both lights come on, it senses a failure in the braking system. Your vehicle will disable the abs if it finds a problem in the braking system, hence the red brake light/hand brake light coming on in the dash. Get a code scanner that also reads the abs module. You could have a bad wheel sensor, which is tied to your TCS and your ABS system. Either that, or you ABS module could be bad.

It is safe to drive. You need a scan tool to get a code out of it. Could be as simple as a wheel speed sensor going bad. All of these lights will work together normally. The traction control uses the ABS to gain traction, and the Brake Assist System is part of the stability control. Also uses the ABS.

First of all, make sure that your brake fluid level is correct. The brake, traction, and ABS systems on these cars all work together and if one thing goes wrong in any one part of the system, all of those lights will come on at the same time. Check your brake fluid level and be sure to use the correct DOT 3 brake fluid. DO NOT SUBSTITUTE with any other fluid. Let me know if your brake fluid level is ok and we'll go from there.

Oh I have exactly the same problem right now!! Machanics are saying the back LH speed sensor is faulty however when they checked the computer there were no error codes. The braking issue has stopped but warning lights have been on constantly for three weeks now :( Its due to go back to the machanic in a few days so they can have another look.... What ended up being the problem with yours?

If brake pedal is chattering or pulsating it is most likely because you need either front or rear rotors, or both. They are rusted or out of round. If there is something wrong with either your abs or traction control,the abs or traction control light will come on & stay on. As soon as these lights come on, it automatically disables abs or traction control. If you would like to take out fuse that disables abs or traction control circuits, it will leave the lights on.You just wont have their functions. If by some strange condition your chattering goes away, then there is indeed something wrong with your abs or traction control.Fuses are labeled abs or traction either under hood or in your fuse panel in car.
