Welcome to the world of owning a ford. after about 130,000 miles your check engine light will come on and stay on unless you reset your comps. but will come back on if the problem is real or the sensor is bad. see ford has it set up so that do it your selfers like me still ahve to pay them money some how. only ford can sell you a new sensor, and only ford knows where it goes. take it to a ford dealership and have the run a digagnostic on your car i bet uit's just a bad sensor.

Heater will not work, just cold air Ed

check the coolant level, if your blow motor works and your not getting heat the coolant is probably empty, the heat work when the engine gets hot and coolant starts to get hot, from there the blower, blows the excess heat into your car, low or no coolant means no heat

Will it stall if you keep your foot on the gas like the Idle speed is set low? Possible Idle speed motor? I'll have to look up the location of the low coolant sensor.

Ford Taurus 1996, coolant comes out throughout the cap every time when car stops

You will overheat the engine if losing coolant.Firstly replace the cap with a new one,Is the engine temperature normal when you stop ? If its over temperature it will still blow out coolant. Check the radiator for blockage of the tubes & ensure the fan belts and water pump are in good order. Worst case is a blown head gasket can test for combustion gases in the coolant

Low coolant light always on

Low coolant means just that, find out if the system is really low or the light is receiving a false signal from the low coolant sensor, just check the level in the coolant recovery tank and the make sure the radiator tank is full, if you are low on coolant then check out why, a leak is probable, most likely a water pump or hose related issue, and no a bad thermostat will not in itself turn on the low coolant light unless the engine boils over and the system becomes low. Remember never ever open a radiator cap on a hot engine, you would be surprised how many professional mechanics get burned this way, be careful..
