MY NISSAN XTERRA IS LEAKING WATER UNDERNEITH THE DASH BOARD AND NOW ITS TRAVELING DOWN TO MY PASSANGER SIDE CARPET. MY NISSAN IS ONLY 5 MONTHS OLD AND I'M TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY THAT THIS IS HAPPENING. SOMEONE SAID THAT IT MIGHT BE MY AIR CONDITIONER EVAPORATOR THAT IS LEAKING. I'M TAKING IT DOWN TO THE DEALER THIS WEEKEND TO GET REPAIRED. I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT I'M HAVING WITH MY XTERRA...
I've had this happen with several of my cars and what it inevitably turned out to be was a clog in the evaporator drainage hose. The moisture that condenses in your evaporator casing should drain out through a hose that leads out under your car but if the hose gets clogged that water backs up and ends up on the carpet inside your car. Sometimes its a bit of a hassle to get to but with a bit of work you can usually use a bit of wire or a pipe cleaner to clear it out. If you can crawl under your car, its also possible and sometimes easier to get at it from the there.
Did you get it fixed??? What was the problem??? Just realized I had the same problem becuase I haven't been parking my Nissan in the garage
I had it into the shop but they could not find the cause. Someone told me it might be the sunroof drain that sometimes clogs
