I have a 98 pontiac sunfire 2.4 . I just replaced the alternator and found out that it was missing the electrial plug. I located two cut wires but still no plug. I brought a 4 wire plug with pigtails from a local car parts store. They said everything shows them that it there should be 4 wires going into the alternator. Is that correct, there should be 4 wires? I also need to know what wire goes where on the new plug so that I can splice them. Thanks

Hopefully this helps. In the wiring diagram the B+ wire is the large red battery cable that bolts to the back of the alt and is not part of the plug.

You should replace your Cap and rotor....Check for any vacuum leaks, When you replaced your plugs, were there any plugs contaminated with engine oil ? Some times manifold gasket goes bad...and causes vacuum leak...Hope this helps you alittle more ???

2000 sunfire loose sensor wire off the alternator wireing harness 2.2L, car when it starts runs for a wile then cuts off, the wire extends about 12 inches down from alternator. where to I do not know.
large cable wire should run to battery or starter smaller wire would be to gauge or exciter wire (voltage must be sent to alt. before it can begin charging) either way wire should run in to harness try a haynes manual found at auto zone $22.00 lock in chapter 12 for wiring schamitic find alt it will show color of wires coming from alt. wat they are for and where they should go

Check the Pink wire for high beams and the Dark Blue wire for low beams. Common locations for wiring problems are behind the headlights, under the battery tray. Adding transmission fluid to 98 pontiac sunfire
There is a plug located on top of the transmission under the brake master cylinder. It is held in place by a bolt on the side of the transmission near the firewall. Remove the bolt, then remove the plug. Fill it until the fluid comes out of the hole.

Not sure where you got that code but it almost sounds like you burnt a valve. Start up the engine and remove the oil cap and see if there alot if internal blow by pressure. If there is lot's of air coming out of the filler hole your have ether 1 piston ring bad, 2 burn a hole in the valve or and bent valve stem. Good luck sorry i dont have any more information on how your car is running.

If your car makes bubbling noise and loses fluid then replace coolant cap. It fixed mine and is cheap fix.
