It is more than likely inside of your oil pan. You will more than likely have to remove it. I would recommend an oil change while you doing this. I have a 2001 s10 crew cab, but I have never had to change the oil yet. Hope this helps!

Please don't forget to rate! Thanks! Exploded view of a common oil pump mounting-4.3L engine shown, it is the bottom of your engine, located under your oil pan. Exploded view of a common oil pump mounting-2.2L engine shown, located under your oil pan.
The oil pump is located inside the oil pan and is attached to the bottom cap of a crankshaft main bearing.
On the bottom of engine inside the oil pan...
SOURCE: where is the oil sending unit located on a Chevy S10 Pickup.
I would not dismiss the possibility of the oil pressure switch being in the pump circuit...gm has used these on and off since the chevy vega. (remember them?)
SOURCE: I need the location of the oil pump on a 1998 dodge ram
Remove the oil pan, it is mounted at the rear of the engine with a tube and screen attached. Be sure to prime the new pump before installing it.
