Car will start and idle well, idles fine in the different gears. Then when you go to accelerate, about 1100 RPMs it starts surging up and down, but if you go up towards 13-1500 RPMs, it rides smooth. What could cause this?

Do you have any codes? If so, what are they?
If not, this could be a mechanical problem with either the torque converter itself or some sort of stuck valve in the valve body inside the transmission.
I just replaced the valve body in my wife's 1999 Mercury Sable and it cleared up a number of problems she was having with shifting and torque converter lock up.

Hi, I had the same problem, and is now fixed. Replace your idle control valve, and the idle problem will go away, and your car will be PERFECT!

sound very much like a vacuum leak.... also maybe your timing is off? possibly advanced? try retarding it with the distributor if thats the case...

as for the rattling sound have you checked the heat shield on the catalytic converter, mine was loose and was causing a rattling sound when it was at idle, and would go away as the rpm's increased.

check your relay and underhood fuse pane to see if you pinced some wiring
