My 92 subaru loyale runs good except it wont shift to 3rd gear. its an automatic. i drained the fluid and changed the strainer and still the same thing. and , the car jolts very hard when i put in reverse. please help. and its at 3000 rpm when it shifts through first and second gear and when it gets to 3rd gear it wont shift. and the fast i go the higher the rpms. the rpms are at 4000 when i get to 60 mph. please help. thank you

Has anyone change the transmission fluid and used anything other than Honda ATF-Z1. If so, have the fluid/filter changed in this car and use only Honda Fluid. This is the only fluid that you can use in a Honda. Even if you have used the correct fluid an fluid/filter change may help. If that is not the case then I suggest you seek out a trusted professional.

When you first start driving it usually takes atleast 4 miles to warm the transmission to operating temperature. The temp of the motor may say it is warmed up, But, the trans fluid and differential fluid only begins to warm as you drive and the parts are actually working. THe computer has sensors that keep the trans from shifting to OD until the temp is up as not to add stress to the motor until warmed properly. Hope this helps and have a good day.
