The horn suddenly started honking on its own. Then one night while we were gone, it bonkers non stop for 10 minutes. The next day when we turned the car on the horn would not work, the cigarette lighter did not work, and the bass did not work either. How do we fix it?

You probably have a short in the horn switch circuit. At some point, the fuse in the lighter/horn circuit blew out. Replacing the fuse is the easy part; it's probably in the glove compartment or under the dash near the glove compartment. The hard part comes first - where is that short circuit? I'd look closely at the wiring coming out of the steering column under the dash for wires with cut or broken insulation. Also, check the wiring to the fuse box that has the horn relay inside (usually under the hood) - maybe a rodent has been chewing on the wires.

In the worst case, the problem is inside the steering column with an airbag waiting to go off like a bomb if you make a mistake while working on it.

Reset key fob

Unlock all doors, foot on brake, all doors closed. Cycle key quickly but carefully on-off appr 10 times until the car honks one time.

Do not turn the key far enough to start the car, just to the 'on' position so the dashboard lights up.

When the horn honks, open and close the driver's door, press any remote button and that's it.

Program another remote? Quickly open and close the driver's door again and push a button on the 2nd remote. That's it.

When you're done, remove the key and the horn should honk 3 times. You're all set.
Sometime it takes more than 10 on-offs to set program mode. Open/close the door, lock/unlock etc, wait 10 minutes, then try again

This is a clockspring issue that you should repair. If the clockspring is honking the horn, it may next inflate the airbag. You don't want that to happen!

THE SWITCH IN THE STEERING WHEEL IS PROBABLY GOING BAD OR HAS A LOOSE CONNECTION THAT IS GROUNDING OUT AND COMPLETETING THE CIRCUIT AT RANDOM. I REALLY DONT KNOW HOW OR WHY SHUTTING IT OFF WOULD TEPORARILY FIX THE PROBLEM BUT WITH ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE BELIEVE ME. ALSO TAKE A LOOK AT THE WIRING AND THE HORN ITSELF TO SEE IF EVERYTHING LOOKS OK THERE.

My 1997 honda civic is going bonkers I was driving the car when at the stop light the lights and horn were going off and when I pulled over I turned off the car and the car was still honking

Sounds like your security system is either shorting to a positive wire or wires are exposed and touching or the system is failing.Do you have any wires that are touching eachother in the fuse block or under the hood
