Hello, You may just need to have fresh fluid and have the internal filter cleaned or replaced. There can also be a problem with the Cold start sequence for the engine. The Cold start sequence keeps the engine idle higher for a short time like the old choke system.

If your idle is slower when cold, it will take longer for the fluid to move to where it needs to be. The hesitation and hard shift can be the fluid trying to flow when it is thick. Yet the hesitation is also the thing carbureted engines would do when the choke was not working.

The other thing you can do is have the Electronics analyzed to see if the shift solenoids in the transmission are working properly, but this will take a Dealer or better transmission shop to have the tools and do the testing. Your cheapest route is fresh fluid and a clean filter and go from there.

I hope my solution is very helpful to you.

When I put my 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser in Reverse it hesitates going in reverse. I have to hit the gas to make it go.

The hesitation of your 2006 PT Cruiser when putting it in reverse may be due to several reasons, such as a clogged transmission filter, low transmission fluid levels, or a faulty transmission solenoid. It is recommended that you take your vehicle to a qualified mechanic for diagnosis and repair to ensure that the issue is addressed properly.

Reverse seems to be sticking

Not a good sign. Check your transmission fluid. Make sure that vehicle is running at the same time. thats how you check transmission fluid. if its low, add fluid, check and make sure which kind to add so you dont add wrong kind. if that dont work, then your gonna have to probably end up buying another transmission or having that one rebuilt. feel free to write back

The transmission under hard acleration hesitates 99 dodge dieasel

It sounds to me that the clutch material in the transmission might be breaking down. Before too long I would have the transmission rebuilt or replaced. If you wait too much longer the transmission will start to slip and pretty soon you will have NO gears but first and reverse.

We just bought a 1999 ford explorer for our daughter, when taking off, sometimes the transmission appearred to hesitate in switching gears. My husband change the filter, gasket and fluid. In drive there is...

Just a guess, but it sounds like an internal valving problem (pressures inside are being mis-directed likely by valves that are not closing all the way) This can cause damage to clutches as they are fighting against each other to move the vehicle. It should be checked by a reliable transmission shop immediately. (they have the proper test equipment to determine what needs to be done...(transmissions are not "user friendly" for repairs other than filter service and external adjustments)
