Yes, cracked manifold can let oxygen in, which tells the pcm to enrich the mixture. You are probably running rich. Really bad for gas mileage too. Replace the manifold.

did you check the transmission heat sensor or the intake air sensor these can be incorporated with temp guage on some vehicles

take an electro meter and hook up to cigarette lighter with a 2 post power maker and watch the voltage as your driving try to recreate the conditions that brought this about if the reading changes dramatically this will tell your alternator will need to be replaced at some point also dead cells in battery creates this little bump in electrical

SOURCE: towing capacity of a Ford 250 5.8 L engine

Towing capacity for any vehicle depends on the engine size along with tire size. the towing capacity should be on the ID tag on the driver's side door and will also be in the owner's manual.

SOURCE: temp gauge pegs left and a/c when runs overheats engine

Why do you need to know where the temp sensor is. It sounds like it is working properly. Check for thermostat not opening completely, or a clogged radiator.

SOURCE: How do I adjust emergency brake on 1990 ford f 350

Under the cab on the drivers side about even with the door hinge the cable splits for the two different sides, right in this junction is an adjustment rod in the cdables connecter. If all things are the same and the brake is'nt tight enought to hold the truck don't adjustr any hting till you check the rear brakes as your describing the brake shoes worn out and even groung into the drums. The cables only need to be adjusted as the cables are removed or changed and once adjusted are good to go. The rear break shoes can be OK but thier adjustment to be as close to the break drums as possible with the shoes adjusters. You can get into the back of the drum though the adjustment hole but some don't have the hole and the drum will need to be removed. If you have this problem the brakes need to be looked at anyway and worn parts changed to new as failure altogether cvan cause a crash.

What is the engine capacity horse power for a 351 ford cleaverland .

351 "C" 4V 1970-1973 Cleveland
http://www.carmemories.com/ford-engine-specifications/351-engine-specs/351c.html
would have thought engine capacity would be what they wanted
351 cubic inches which converts to 5.75186 litre capacity
horse power in the link above is 300 BHP (brake horse power)

I have no idea myself but found the car memories web site that states the engine specifications and I hope it is correct and matches your engine ?
most likely it would be rounded up to a 5.8 litre capacity

My toyota lost power going up a hill. At the time I was towing a double horse float with two large horses on board. The engine light- malfunction indicator lamp came on as well as the four wheel dri

Suggest that the engine was overloaded during the incline with the float. At low speeds the cooling is only through the electric fans at the radiator.

Check the user manual for trailer weight limitations. If the vehicle is not equipped with a heavy duty trailer package the transmission may also have overheated during the grade.

The car was likely behaving normally in that any Land Cruiser (equipped as yours) that was connected would have that same result because the load was above the design limits.

Caution in overloading because permanent damage to the drive train engine can occur.

Suggest using a vehicle (ie. Ford 250 truck) qualified to pull a double horse trailer.

Hope this helps?.

Well, it can be a sending unit issue, they are pretty inexpensive, so worth while to just replace it. Do be aware that the temprature DOES normally do what you describe. The condition is called heat soak, where the temp goes pretty high, due to no water circulation, after shutdown. This is normal and some vehicles run fans after shutdown to help. Usually not an issue with properly functioning cooling system that can hold pressure.

Remember the coolant recovery tanks? Their purpose was to recover teh small amount of coolant pushed out during heat soak.

My temp gauge reads only a quarter hot.when i tow a trailer or use my air my temp goes past half and my engine light comes on.

I would supect you actually have two problems going on here. First off it sounds like your guage is reading inaccuratly. When it is reading at one quarter it probably should be at the half way point. This is the normal operating range. The most likely cause is the temp sensor for the guage. When you pull a trailer and engine gets under a load the tempature sounds like its going up too high. Your engine light comes on because it uses a different sensor and is registering accurate tempature. I would start by comparing actual tempature of engine with what the guage reads, this can be done with a scanner or a heat gun pointed at the thermostat housing. I believe you will find a faulty sensor or possibly an outside chance of a bad guage.(but doubt it!)Once that is straightned out you will have to look at why is the engine getting too warm under load. I would start with radiator flow,A ristricted radiator either internally or externally will cause this. Good luck!

1998 ford expedition: engine ovr heat light comes on- soon after heater goes from hot air to cold. Pull over cycle key all lights go to normal soon after heater goes to working. replaced radiator- fan...

Have you tried replacing the overflow tank cap. These don't hold pressure as it should which will cause the temp to rise. EX: the cap rating is 15psi, and the cap has a defect which only allows the cap to hold 10-12psi. That water has to be pressurized by the cap for the water not to flow out. Also, does the temp gauge reach a high level or just the temp light comes on. This will give a better idea of the problem. If the gauge is normal but the light is on, sounds like a temperature switch is bad.
