Where is the starter located on a 1998 mitshubi monterp sport

starter motor ?
does starter solenoid fire up the starter motor ?
could be a faulty starter motor or solenoid or a cable has come off the starter motor solenoid.

Look up under the car in between the starter and the a/c compressor.

Usually on the driver side where the engine and transmission join, under the exhaust manifold.

The solenoid is located on the top of the starter motor. The starter motor is toward the front of the engine next to the radiator.

Hit the starter with a hammer while some one is trying to start it and if it starts up after this the starter is bad most likely if you already checked the battery contacts in it get stuck if theres is power down to it ...starter bad....

I would start with checking the battery and starter connections. If they seem tight and clean I'd look at the starter itself as the possible culprit.

if its the same as my 97 its under the center of the engine...you have to drop the sump guard and its just by the brake lines that run down the center of the truck...its a pain but not too bad
