I have two comments to make about the drained battery that we found out...
1. The On-Star system stayed on when its suppose to shut-off once you shut off the engine and open the door. The green lite on on the unit is really hard to see during the day, but easly at night. I let the car sit over night and the next morning the unit was still active... hence draining the battery. The On-Star is using the same fuse as the dome lights. So to reset... with the door open pull the fuse, close the door insert the fuse, you should here a relay switch click. Open the door a wait for the dome lights to come on... the On-Star unti will not and should not unitl the car is started. You may need periodically keep on eye on this.
2. The other related problem is the radio fuse which is also identified as a battery guard. Not sure what that means or does yet... but the radio on-off situation seems to have started when I didn't replace the battery cover, so I'm wondering if the negative terminal is shorting out on the car. I'm getting a new cover to see if this corrects the problem... I know its sounds strange but why is there a battery cover to begin with.
I just wanted to further comment on my first item regarding the On-Star remaining active... and by active I mean just powered on, not subscribing to it. This weekend was a perfect time to test the soluton being President's Day and being off from work... no rush to get on the road, you know. We let the car sit since Friday night, On-Star was not active (light was off). Monday AM... the car stated up without a problem. I recomment you read about the On-Star and its manual, because if you leave you key in the igniton and open the door, then remove the key the On-Star will remain active (power on) and is SUPPOSE to turn-off in 48 hours to avoid a battery drain... a relay switch controlling this MAY still be the problem. If you remove the key before opening the door, the On-Star is powered off as the dome lights turn on.
OK... finally figured out the radio problem. There is a wire that runs from the radio into the drivers door, then to a switch. My problem was the wire has been rubbing all these years which caused the insulation to wear and expose the wire. Hence the wire would short out occasionally which effected the radio, trunk and fuel door. I also replaced the switch, which deactivates the radio when the door opens, since I was already there and wasn't sure if the switch was a really OK. Also found out my alternator was putting out low voltage but good enough to pass test.
Another connection to the On-Star is your DRL (Driving Running Lights) switch and/or module. Our DRL were not operating (both sides) one day so one's frist thought is the fuse, and if thats OK then the switch. BUT it was DRL module that the On-Star is connected to went bad... which in turn sent the wrong message to the On-Star, makign the uint think the vehilce was in a front end collision. Modeule was replaced, DRL and On-Star unit work normally. Appears the On-Star system has multiple modules thru the vehicle that you need to check in addition to the normal things.

alternator good battery good dont know what is draining it
We have a similar problem. We have replaced the alternator two times now and it still drains the battery when it feels like it. As long as we leave every thing off in the car that is possible it doesn't do it as often. We are totally baffled by this.
same thing, i cant explain it. Ne battery and still have the problem.
WOW... we have the saem battery. Replaced the battery and the entire charging system check and all is OK. But still sitting fro 3 or so days and its to low for the car to start (interior lights on) or no charge at all (no interior lights). Radio pops and turns off on its on, then comes back on awhile later. The two problems happened at the same time. Wondering if the radio is still on after you openthe door even the the display shows off.
Same battery problem on 07 SRX. park car one day, go back out next morning and car is completely dead. No remote, no interior lites, nothing. happened in Jul o8 and dealer put in a new battery. Just happened again this a.m. Totally dead. Back at dealer now. I told them first time it was like something had drained all power out of battery. had to jump to start. If they put another new battery in, the 2nd in 6 months and fix nothing else, I;m going to have to start carrying battery cables.
1999 cadillac catera they are not good at all. im having the same problem. i dont know what is wrong with it. first it was the mass air flow sensor then i decided to give it a tune up then after that everything is breaking on it. it stop on me when im driving and it wont start until it wants to.so machanics told me it was the fuel pump so i put in a new fuel pump and fuel filter and it still turns off on me. so i took it to another shop and they told me that it is the crankshaft pos sensor so we will see if its that hopefully it is because i spent over 700 dollars on my car and it still doesnt run. do not buy one!
