I have a 2000 Mitsubishi montero sport that cut off while driving and will not start. None of the indicator lights on the dash will come on when switch is turned to the accessory/run position like they are supposed to. The only light that does come on now is the door ajar indicator. The tachometer does not jump either when we turn the engine over trying to start it. Any ideas or suggestions? We do/was having a problem with the brake light and charge indicator lights flashing on and off when we turned on the turn signals. I don't know if that would be related.

i have the same problem in my 1998 Montero and was surprised to see your posting. I just went to an auto electric expert and diagnosed it as a broken turn signal switch that needs to be replaced.

FIRST YOU HAVE TO UNBOLT THE TRANSMISSION PAN ON THE BOTTOM OF THE TRANSMISSION. THERE WILL BE FLUID IN IT SO BE CAREFUL NO TO SPILL IT. AFTER THE PAN IS OFF YOU WILL SEE THE FILTER ON THE BOTTOM OF THE VALVE BODY. IT MAY BE BOLTED ON AS WELL. HOPE THIS HELPS. LET ME KNOW. GOOD LUCK
